Let’s keep the summertime theme of Lorraine in, or out of, bikinis. As I was setting up the “ice cream” bikini drawing, I also came up with this pose and thought it would be a blast to draw. And I was right. You have to watch those damn Seagulls, they’ll take anything.
I know this song by REO Speedwagon is mostly about some guy who wants to split with his girl, but most certainly the seagull in today’s comic felt it was time to fly as well. Regardless, this song comes from one of the best album titles ever: “You Can Tune a Piano, but You Can’t Tuna Fish”.

love the detail in the drawings, muscle lines in the hands, arms and legs by the knee.
In certain instances, like a detailed pin-up, I try to put in certain muscle lines without making the characters look overly muscular. And yes, the tan lines are excellent if I do say so myself. 🙂

Fun song in concert! And yes, it features the dreaded bass guitar solo. We bass players should leave the solos to the lead guitarist. 🙂
I love me a good bass line and always wait fir a bass solo, but in this one the piano really makes the tune for me.
Those sea gulls will eat almost any thing see them in garbage dumps that can happen with ice cream on bikini. Or the gull may use it to build a nest it or they are not enough fish for the gulls doubtful they eat garbage to. Could be the start of Alfred Hitchcock the bird peck peck as they swam those who can’t escape. Now all we need is the copper tone dog to pull off Lorraine’s bikini bottom and she can flash em another copper tone tan. If I was on the beach easy I wear a one piece. I’ll give her my T shirt since my halter top is too short to cover her bottom.
Once past the initial shock of having her top stolen, Lorraine would not care about being topless, as I’ve shown many times that she’s comfortable with being topless or naked. And since Seagulls are omnivorous and will eat anything, they are a menace to a many a beach-goer’s lunch basket. I’ve seen so many videos of gulls just grabbing food from a person’s hand. They are fearless to say the least.
Her face looks so young in this one, the heavy hangers seem to be at odds with that but perspective is everything 😉
Got it figured out, as soon as her top got stolen they dropped and pulled the lines out of her face 😉
I rarely draw facial lines on these characters as it does give them the appearance of age. Though, Lorraine and Robyn are both 24, so for some close-ups, it would be appropriate to draw in some aging lines. And yes, perspective is everything, that was the challenge of this pin-up. I won’t be doing a lot of high-angle views, but it is fun to attempt them every so often.
The ‘birds eye view’ is a nice touch, it works for me.
Different angles and perspectives can be a pain to draw but well worth looking at.
Put Lorraine in a Roman Breo Ad ” It shake Europe, It shake the Mediterranean, it shake the middle east, the Atlantic. the Pacific and the Orient now let her shake up your world.” Then again have pee wee the giant man eating queen crab saw the movie campy as a giant crab eats mean ole rednecks who really deserve the pinch. As it chases Lorraine get her pee wee give her the pinch or stick a peeler, ghost, sand or fiddler crab down her bikini bottom. Due her sitting on the poor little creature and killing it so for their sake don’t do it.
Wow, Roman Brio cologne. Not heard of that in a long time. Lorraine could sell a great many of the “manly” orientated products that we hawked in Playboy and National Lampoon back in the 1970s. That would be a great running gag to have Lorraine appearing in advertisements in magazines. I shall have to write that idea down.
No, there will be no fiddler crabs attacking anyone’s bikini bottom any time soon, but I know that it is a common occurrence in many Manga comics and animations. I may pay tribute to that someday.
All I can think of is how much that has to HURT! Most guys don’t know how much really large breasts hurt, your back hurts, you take your bra off and its like having somebody grab onto them and hang. Some days you can’t even sleep without support. Her back problems later in life would be epic……….
I have, many times in my 66 years, heard and/or read about the woes of actually having large breasts, and the few women that I’ve actually known who had large boobs have also confirmed that for me. Fortunately for Lorraine, as we have found over the course of the comic, is that she eventually marries a plastic surgeon who gives her some much needed nip-tuck in her older years.
It was not a lesson I expected to learn, but learn it I did………
Fantastic job on the character as you trudged capture the moment very well done with great detail.
I have seen a lot of comic artists who start off drawing more realistic and then slowly evolve their style into something more cartoony. I, on the other hand, went from a poorly drawn cartoony style to the realistic style I have today. The only real issue with that is that it takes a lot of time, at least for me, to draw in this style. I have seriously contemplated switching back to some form of a cartoony drawing style so I can crank out my comic pages faster. It is part of the reason for the delay in the drawing of the current story, as I have a lot of pages to create and I don’t want to take 18 months to draw them all.
