We’ll have to see how dinner goes on Monday… I think Robyn will catch on sooner than later.
Badfinger’s “No Matter What” *always* gets me going. Love this song. From the very first chord, I know this song.

I think the first four panels are already done … very fitting to demonstrate a weekend full of memory holes. 😉 And, you know my opinion of sketches, so no worries there.
Oh Robyn … you walked into that one, full frontal, like a half-opened door in a pitch black room. Nitpick, though: were we really using the term “Ms.” in 1977 ..? Seems to me I recall a big push in the early 80s, but “Miss” was still the accepted norm ’til nearly the 2nd half of the decade. I was going through my “corporate phase” then (1982-ish) & I remember what a big deal the changeover was, and how resistant the Old Boy culture was to it. Exact timing of my memory could be quite fuzzy on that, too.
Sorry to hear things not going so well, Byron. Hoping the best for you and yours. Keep on keepin’ guy. When possible, remember low stress is also good medicine. Personally, wish I had the recipe for Lorraine’s Olde Hemp 420 brew. I’m certain there’s significant medicinal value in that, too. 😉
Actually – “Ms” goes way way way back, but the US Feminist movement resurrected it for their own in the very early 70’s (Gloria Steinem started Ms magazine around ’72 – I remember well an older female cousin having the mag), so you’re right on with the times Byron. Byron, I know it kills you not get things finished “on time” & to have to put things on hold, but please, don’t EVER feel like you have to apologize to us for ANYTHING. FAMILY COMES FIRST, ALWAYS!! I’m sure that mine & many of your other readers’ prayers go to, & with you.
I agree with 3xP4t: the first four panels are ‘sketchy’ memories.
I hope you and your wife recover soon. thoughts and prayers, etc.
I’m on both sides of the fence re the ‘memory’ panels 🙂
Great work as always, even in rough sketch form. And yes, fantastic song. Produced by a once-dear friend, who – like more than one member of this unfortunate band – chose to end his life early 🙁
I think I like policewoman Janice…and I’m looking forward to Robyn’s dinner, too. Pretty soon that penny is going to drop and we’ll find out what Robyn thinks.
I guess there’s little chance of this, but I’m hoping that Robyn catches on later. As in, morning after later.
Your ear infection is making you feel dizzy? That sounds very serious. Have you been to a specialist?
Ya I’m definitely liking this new storyline 🙂 Keep it up Byron. I laughed at those last three pages 🙂
Very nice Byron! Hope you feel better!!
I’m really liking the direction the series is going in lately, Byron. I sense a rejuvenation and love of the craft and story coming from you. I hope you feel better soon.
Wow, TAFKAN, you knew Mal Evans?!! I’d have loved to have gotten a chance to talk to him, the stories he could tell I bet, that he didn’t include in his book. Badfinger was indeed an fantastic band with an unbelievable amount of tragedy and misfortune associated with it. I pray that there is a special place in hell for the music industry people who screwed them & led directly to alot of their woes…
Hola, Mac, there’s an old blues song that covers this: ‘Don’t start me talking, I’ll tell everything I know…’
Short version: a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, TAFKAN was the Baby Sister of Rock. This effectively means that any era-specific name you can think of, she could drop. She just rarely bothers. But Mal…he was such a beautiful soul, so ruled by emotion, and yes, we shared some amazing pieces of friendship on several continents. He should still be here, the big stupid oaf. It’s good to know that at lest some people remember him.
Hmmm…Money, a contract, a shadowy figure, trouble ensues…Is The Devil getting her revenge on Bud?
Well, at least Bud has his priorities in order.
