First, Rhonda/Brenda has come a long way since I first introduced her early last year (if you’re not up on the name thing, check out last October’s strips featuring her and the rednecks that beat up Bud). Second, yes, I picked a damn Helen Reddy song for today’s title. There are probably a hundred other feminist type songs I could have picked from, but last night was really rough on the Wilkins family, so you can cut me some slack on this one.
Briefly, we lost a family pet last night… Spooky our really cool black cat. His latest bought with a urinary tract infection got the better of him and he is now chasing mice in kitty heaven. Thank you in advance for your thoughts. I won’t bring the party down here, I just wanted you to know.
With that, I’ll cut out, as it’s very late and I’m exhausted. More on Friday. I was planning on five comics this week with the swinger party theme, but I’m taking today off. See you Friday, man!

man, really sorry to hear about spooky.
i too have a black cat who got really sick a couple of months ago and almost died. really difficult. i’m so poor i can’t pay any mind or even any attention at this point, and when she got sick i called every “income-impaired” vet in the metro area and all of them were so far out of my league it wasnt even funny. in fact, one of them refused to help me because i couldn’t prove i was unemployed (!!!!).
luckily, thru the help of a local animal rescue place, i was able to get financial help. she’s still not outta the woods (that whole thing started in august), but she’s better.
again, i’m really sorry to hear that you lost spooky. that’s really rough, man. hope he’s rockin’ it wherever he is.
–dee!
I’m sorry to hear about Spooky. It’s always hard when a pet passes away.
On a lighter note, perhaps Spooky had a master plan for being a ghost for Halloween this year.
Hugs.
That would totally hurt my ears as well!
Sorry to hear about Spooky. That always is a tough blow when a family pet goes.
Sad about the cat.
There was a song done a few years ago called “The Woman’s Song” which began: “I am woman, hear me roar, I can’t open my closet door”.
Oooh, a new mug. Mugmugmug. I must own it.
Is Bud wearing those “disco sox” the DJs hand out to the women at weddings?
(/em toasts Spooky in heaven… or wherever.)
I don’t have any problem with the thought of my little sister having sex, but that doesn’t mean I’d handle it any better than Bud if I found her at a swingers’ party.
I dont know why but todays strip really makes me chortle
:3
Really sorry to hear about Spooky, its not am easy time when you lose a pet 🙁
As usual, great comic 🙂 – bud looks a bit freaked 😀
I’m sorry for your loss.
And you draw those liberated women so well. 😀
I’m very sorry to hear about Spooky. I know how hard it is.
Byron, I’m sorry about Spooky. We have a male cat who’s had similar problems with urinary tract infections. I don’t know how I’d handle it if something happened to him. 🙁
But on a lighter note, sisters aren’t supposed to talk about sex, let alone HAVE it. 😉
funny how even the horniest of guys cringe at the thought of their sister being “active”. Sorry to hear about spooky, best wishes.
Sorry indeed about your kitty boy—I had to help a cat with cranberry extract, probiotics and an herbal tonic through a couple of those after we got him past the antibiotics, which just weren’t doing the job long term.
As an older and a younger sis with two brothers, I didn’t and don’t want to think about any of my siblings having sex, whether they have kids or not! I just don’t go there~~~ 🙂
Hey brother from another mother…erm… and father…. but when my sister pulls that line on me, I find it to be psychologically damaging, so like Bud, I’d flee too!
Enjoying the comic. Condolences on the cat. We’ve never had a spooky kitty, but we’ve had sweet and we’ve had crazy. Every pet lover lives with the fact that to have the animal love means you’re taking on a little critter you’re going to lose, and we do it anyway because they’re worth it. Best wishes.
I’m amazed that he is freaking that bad… it’s not like his mom is there…
Byron — isn’t it funny how people hate the idea of their parents having sex lives but if they didn’t have sex lives we wouldn’t be here! Sorry about your cat, but he doesnt have any pain anymore.
sorry about your cat!
still loving the comic!
-wonders if that sounds twisted considering the current theme-
Bud avoid rednecks they are mean for example one on steeped on my hand at the blues festival. But he had rubber shoes so the jokes on him both he and his wife were way bigger and stronger than I was so I kept quiet. Nonetheless she she is cute but if you are majorette size and they linebacker size stay away.
