Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Enjoy a little Robyn… as I think someone else is about too.
Being raised by a Mother who liked to put on party hats whenever she could, I remember our house being decorated in shamrocks and the like for St. Patrick’s Day, even though we’re as about as English as you can get (come on, with a name like William Byron, how I could be anything else?).
But, by 1977 I learned what the real reason for St. Patrick’s Day was... to get falling down drunk in the middle of the week. Yes! Oh, and Reuben sandwiches are like the best ever to eat. Yum. Damn, now I’m hungry.
AC/DC’s “Back in Black” was 1980’s follow up to “Highway to Hell” and was the first one after the death of original lead singer Bon Scott (anyone else still miss this guy? Man…). I have to say I’m not fond of the replacement singer, but it is still the AC/DC sound and that you can’t argue with.

A
good, well, a Catholic girl like Robyn ..? Wearing panties like that? On St. Patties Day??! A bit ,,,uhm, orange-ish. Don’t ch’ya think? She’s a gonna get pinched just a bit there, not wearing green … Cheeky girl. 😉 😛“A bit ,,,uhm, orange-ish. Don’t ch’ya think?”
Wot, are you insinuating that only Prods wear knickers? ~iz amused~
The flag is orange, white and green, but she does seem to be missing the important green part. Also, love the pub’s name.
Ahh… Catholic school. I remember those days. That’s where I learned how to hot-wire a car. And somehow, the girls liked to ‘experiment’ a lot.
Then I went to a public high school, and things changed. I guess when there’s no repression or fear of consequence for sex and drugs, everything becomes sorta ‘meh’ to people.
Um…I thought St. Patric’s Day was tomorrow?
For the guys wondering why orage stands for, , I will enlighten you! Ireland had a bit of a thing going on similar to our North and South dispute back in the 1860’s. BAck in the…16th century I think, the north and southern lands were at war with another over the lands, and the colors Green and Orange were the banners of the two united clans at war. When the war was over, and lands united, they chose to model their country’s flag Green, white, Orage, to represent the unity of the Northern and Sothern clans. The reason I know this tidbit is, being a New Yorker, you have to watch out for which colors you where in certain neighbourhoods of Manhattan. Some of the bad blood never fully died out, and being the type to hold a grudge, You could end up getting lousy service, or even beligerent stares if you got walking in green from top to bottom.
This has been Jonnybain’s Rant to St Paddy’s Day.*

I went to Catholic school for one year, 7th grade (’77-’78, for the record). Aside from discovering KISS and Rush, that was the worst year of my life. (Yes, my peers in Catholic school turned me on to “Knights In Satan’s Service” – a stupid acronym that I didn’t hear for a few more years – while a friend from my old elementary school played me 2112.) Thankfully, my parents saw how miserable I was there, and they sent me to a “normal” junior high school for 8th grade. There, I discovered Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, the Ramones, Elvis Costello, Queen, George Thoroughgood, ELP, Van Halen, and – of course – AC-DC.
Also “for the record,” I’m with you, Byron. While Back in Black is a great album, Highway to Hell is, was, and will always be my favorite AC-DC release. NAH-NAH-NAH! NUH-NUH-NUH! NUH-NUH-NUH/ NUH-NUH-NUH/ NAH-NUH-NUH!
Hang on, shouldn’t your final NAH be tagged on the end of the previous NUH-NUH-NUH? That’s the way it sounds on my mePod… 😀
(Arg! That should be, ‘…for 8TH grade,” not 9th.)
I was wondering where 3Xp4t got the orange as well… thems pink y’all! My dad had a huge falling out with our parish when I was about 8-9 & I was no longer forced to do sunday pennance thankfully, or I may have ended up doing the same catholic jr high/high school incarceration he did, (shudder…) As it is, just the relatively short time I spent in service to the church as an alter boy, & the innumerable sundays spent chaffing under the the church’s intolerable dogma, is the reason I’m a recovering catholic to this day…
My AC/DC vote is “Let There Be Rock” – still a cooker 35 years (ouch!) later! Also – I’d a used Thin Lizzy “Bad Reputation”. It fits Robyn & ties up today’s St, Pattie’s day strip with a great Irish band who just so happened to have a black frontman… But, as you said, you’re master of this universe, so I bow to your choice sir!
She appears to be outgrowing her uniform. And LOL at his response to her question! Can’t I just do both?
Speaking of Ackadacka’s Back in Black, the most awesome mashup in the universe – worth searching the internets for, because I’ve no idea where my own copy of it came from – gets a galaxy-sized gold star for the person who did it. Some bright spark combined Eminem’s My Name Is Slim Shady with the signature riff from Back in Black. It’s perfectly done and simply AWESOME.
A galaxy-sized gold star is pretty bige…..Anyone know how many parsecs it’ll take for that gold star to fit on a proportionally accurate piece of letter paper?
About the size of the Great White Handkerchief, maybe?

Hehe, I think she is using her kindergarden uniform! 😉
Both sounds good to me too. That guy looks an awful like my dad did during the 70’s. 🙂
You are an evil man and you are going to end up in a bad place.
So you there.
You know that was supposed to be “See you there” right?
Can’t say I’ve ever noticed any difference between Bon Scott and his replacement. Then again, neither am I a big AC/DC fan (I like what I’ve heard in small doses).
Ah ha ha, the RSS feed glitched and for a moment there, I thought the comic was updating again. Took me a while to notice the dates and realize that I’ve already seen this strip. I wonder why I didn’t comment the first time around.
Black guy in an Irish pub… the world-famous black Dubliner, Phil Lynott?
(Alternate soundtrack: Thin Lizzy, “Whiskey in the Jar”
Or else: the Horslips, a seventies band who redefined folk rock by setting traditional Irish tunes to rock instruments. Try this:

Love the school uniform Robin should wear in when her band plays gigs. It is such a cute outfit that bud should turn into a girl and Lorrian can wear them too. Sham my school never made use wear mini kilts they are just so cute even get the blond guy to wear them.
