Happy St. Patrick’s Day!Β Enjoy a little Robyn… as I think someone else is about too.
Being raised by a Mother who liked to put on party hats whenever she could, I remember our house being decorated in shamrocks and the like for St. Patrick’s Day, even though we’re as about as English as you can get (come on, with a name like William Byron, how I could be anything else?).
But, by 1977 I learned what the real reason for St. Patrick’s Day was... to get falling down drunk in the middle of the week.Β Yes!Β Oh, and Reuben sandwiches are like the best ever to eat. Yum.Β Damn, now I’m hungry.
AC/DC’s “Back in Black” was 1980’s follow up to “Highway to Hell” and was the first one after the death of original lead singer Bon Scott (anyone else still miss this guy? Man…).Β I have to say I’m not fond of the replacement singer, but it is still the AC/DC sound and that you can’t argue with.

good, well, a Catholic girl like Robyn ..? Wearing panties like that? On St. Patties Day??! A bit ,,,uhm, orange-ish. Don’t ch’ya think? She’s a gonna get pinched just a bit there, not wearing green … Cheeky girl. π πORANGE? I’m either color blind or Photoshop has totally f***ed up, but her panties are PINK!!
If you guys really see orange, I gotta figure what the hell is up.
Her date is wearing green, and she’ll be wearing him soon enough, so that counts.
π
they do look kinda orangey…
in looking at it, it’s probably just the red skirt playing tricks on the eye tho.
Hard to tell, but the pink in her panties is the same pink used for her lips. If her lips are orange, I’m screwed. Looks okay to me, but sometimes my eyes are off with certain colors.
nah, those panties are pink, which brings up another question, why is she wearing panties? π
FINALLY!! Obiwan has taught you well…
Indeed, *why* is she wearing panties? It is a well known fact the ladies go commando most of the time. I tossed in the panties as a tease and to see if anyone would notice that indeed, she’s *wearing* panties at all!
You win the shiny new dime!
π
Naah, lips and panties are pink … however on my PC the guy is wearing grey! π
You all need new monitors… π
I’m seeing a deep pink (and grayish green on the guy’s shirt), so yeah – it probably wouldn’t take much more color drift to make them orange. Monitors do that.
I’m making a point of wearing an orange shirt tomorrow to see if anyone calls me on it; alas, nobody noticed last year.
“Living on the edge…”
Yeah, the colors I use sometimes I wonder if they translate on most monitors very well. I use a high end graphics card and nice monitor, so everything looks *great* over here… but I’ve seen some client monitors that make me shudder.
Ahahahaha! I assumed the ExPat meant Orange as in Protestant! ROFL!
Trust me, her knickers are pink. Though it took me a while to check because I kept getting waylaid by her awesome tits in the previous panel…
See, this is why I stay “dumb” when it comes to all this religion and/or gang color crap. I just wear my black and/or white t-shirts and blue jeans. Not much anyone can say about that. Hopefully…
π
“A bit ,,,uhm, orange-ish. Donβt chβya think?”
Wot, are you insinuating that only Prods wear knickers? ~iz amused~
The flag is orange, white and green, but she does seem to be missing the important green part. Also, love the pub’s name.
I’ve had Robyn in green outfits in the past, but this year I went with her school uniform. You’re mentioning no green clothes yet her ass is hanging out. I think I’ve not trained you all very well…. Yoda is disappointed.
π
Ahh… Catholic school. I remember those days. That’s where I learned how to hot-wire a car. And somehow, the girls liked to ‘experiment’ a lot.
Then I went to a public high school, and things changed. I guess when there’s no repression or fear of consequence for sex and drugs, everything becomes sorta ‘meh’ to people.
LOL! True… we could do pretty much what we wanted in High School and no one said much. Depending on the crowd you hung with, there were usually girls around willing to partake in certain activities. “Above the waist and under the bra” was the norm back then.
Um…I thought St. Patric’s Day was tomorrow?
For the guys wondering why orage stands for, , I will enlighten you! Ireland had a bit of a thing going on similar to our North and South dispute back in the 1860’s. BAck in the…16th century I think, the north and southern lands were at war with another over the lands, and the colors Green and Orange were the banners of the two united clans at war. When the war was over, and lands united, they chose to model their country’s flag Green, white, Orage, to represent the unity of the Northern and Sothern clans. The reason I know this tidbit is, being a New Yorker, you have to watch out for which colors you where in certain neighbourhoods of Manhattan. Some of the bad blood never fully died out, and being the type to hold a grudge, You could end up getting lousy service, or even beligerent stares if you got walking in green from top to bottom.
This has been Jonnybain’s Rant to St Paddy’s Day.*
* = this is cited from memory, so the details in this article are subject to error due to sleeping in history class. Quote at your own risk.
Well done, I think. But that sounds right. Close enough for me. I slept through more than History, so you know where I stand.

I went to Catholic school for one year, 7th grade (’77-’78, for the record). Aside from discovering KISS and Rush, that was the worst year of my life. (Yes, my peers in Catholic school turned me on to “Knights In Satan’s Service” – a stupid acronym that I didn’t hear for a few more years – while a friend from my old elementary school played me 2112.) Thankfully, my parents saw how miserable I was there, and they sent me to a “normal” junior high school for 8th grade. There, I discovered Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, the Ramones, Elvis Costello, Queen, George Thoroughgood, ELP, Van Halen, and – of course – AC-DC.
Also “for the record,” I’m with you, Byron. While Back in Black is a great album, Highway to Hell is, was, and will always be my favorite AC-DC release. NAH-NAH-NAH! NUH-NUH-NUH! NUH-NUH-NUH/ NUH-NUH-NUH/ NAH-NUH-NUH!
The Catholic school down from my Junior High School was named Sacret Heart. My school got out about 20 minutes before Sacred Heart and we’d walk by in the warm weather yelling “S-H-I-T… SACRED HEART IS TOUGH…” Nuns would come running every time. Fun stuff.
I am going straight to hell someday… thus why I too love “Highway to Hell” as it’s been my life’s anthem for some time now.
π
Hang on, shouldn’t your final NAH be tagged on the end of the previous NUH-NUH-NUH? That’s the way it sounds on my mePod… π
(Arg! That should be, ‘…for 8TH grade,” not 9th.)
As the Master of the Universe here, I corrected your original post for you. I’m in your stuff touching things right now…
π
” Iβm in your stuff touching things right now⦔
…and that is giving rise to soooo many Endless Shades of Wrong imagery…

I was wondering where 3Xp4t got the orange as well… thems pink y’all! My dad had a huge falling out with our parish when I was about 8-9 & I was no longer forced to do sunday pennance thankfully, or I may have ended up doing the same catholic jr high/high school incarceration he did, (shudder…) As it is, just the relatively short time I spent in service to the church as an alter boy, & the innumerable sundays spent chaffing under the the church’s intolerable dogma, is the reason I’m a recovering catholic to this day…
My AC/DC vote is “Let There Be Rock” – still a cooker 35 years (ouch!) later! Also – I’d a used Thin Lizzy “Bad Reputation”. It fits Robyn & ties up today’s St, Pattie’s day strip with a great Irish band who just so happened to have a black frontman… But, as you said, you’re master of this universe, so I bow to your choice sir!
Well, I’ve used “Bad Reputation” before (but I’ve done “double plays” before on songs) but to be totally honest I didn’t think of it.
π
I chose today’s song for the line “Back in Black, I hit the sack…” as that’s where this is headed for Robyn. Plus, I’m showing Robyn’s ass, or her backside, and she’s picking up a black guy, so… you see where this is headed…
π
She appears to be outgrowing her uniform. And LOL at his response to her question! Can’t I just do both?
I love little lines like that… puts the icing on the cake so to speak.
π
Well, she did wear that uniform in high school, so yeah, she’s bound to outgrow it… thankfully for us.
;P
Speaking of Ackadacka’s Back in Black, the most awesome mashup in the universe – worth searching the internets for, because I’ve no idea where my own copy of it came from – gets a galaxy-sized gold star for the person who did it. Some bright spark combined Eminem’s My Name Is Slim Shady with the signature riff from Back in Black. It’s perfectly done and simply AWESOME.
A galaxy-sized gold star is pretty bige…..Anyone know how many parsecs it’ll take for that gold star to fit on a proportionally accurate piece of letter paper?
About the size of the Great White Handkerchief, maybe?
/H2G2 reference
Hehe, I think she is using her kindergarden uniform! π
LOL! I’ll have to come up with Robyn’s back story (no pun intended) and see if she finished High School. I’m thinking that both she and Lorraine have been on the road for a while, which is why they’ve chosen to settle back down in Robyn’s Uncle’s house down the street from Jeff & Bud.
See? Just wrote it. π
Both sounds good to me too. That guy looks an awful like my dad did during the 70’s. π
Hmmm…. did he live near or ever travel to Chicago? Then it could be…
π
You are an evil man and you are going to end up in a bad place.
So you there.
You know that was supposed to be “See you there” right?
LOL! It wasn’t until you pointed it out that I saw the it *didn’t* say “see”!
The power of communication… I got your message regardless of how it was spelled. Love that…
π
Can’t say I’ve ever noticed any difference between Bon Scott and his replacement. Then again, neither am I a big AC/DC fan (I like what I’ve heard in small doses).
Ah ha ha, the RSS feed glitched and for a moment there, I thought the comic was updating again. Took me a while to notice the dates and realize that I’ve already seen this strip. I wonder why I didn’t comment the first time around.
Black guy in an Irish pub… the world-famous black Dubliner, Phil Lynott?
(Alternate soundtrack: Thin Lizzy, “Whiskey in the Jar”
Or else: the Horslips, a seventies band who redefined folk rock by setting traditional Irish tunes to rock instruments. Try this:

Love the school uniform Robin should wear in when her band plays gigs. It is such a cute outfit that bud should turn into a girl and Lorrian can wear them too. Sham my school never made use wear mini kilts they are just so cute even get the blond guy to wear them.
