Welcome to Hemp Island! The gang ends up crashed on a Pacific island and if not for Robyn’s leadership, they would all be doomed! Or terribly hungry at the very least.
But while stranded on the island, they make a wonderful discovery: a field of wild hemp. Chaos and shenanigans ensure as they struggle with survival and being stoned. It’s going to be a fun ride as 1977 the Comic returns in force.
This will be the final year for the comic. I am doing two stories. This one, and “Taking On New York” where the gang ends up in New York city on the night of the famous black-out. I will be doing full page comics once a week for the entire year and then will offer them in print form with tons of extras. I’m giving the comic one final year due to my having so many issues these past three years, I felt it only fair to take the comic out on a high note. It will be a fun year and I’m glad to have you all along for one last great ride.
And what a fitting song to kick off the new story then Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Travelin’ Band”. As our travelin’ band ends up stranded on an island! See you Monday!
I have to give credit where credit is due. Phenomenal artist and illustrator Juanjo Guarnido is on Facebook and I stumbled upon his works. His drawings of these four fairies just sang out to me and I knew I had to draw that pose. Artists often use reference material for inspiration, but this one was so cool, I wanted to pay homage to it as best I could. I also believe in being up front and letting folks know when something inspires me. He is also the artist behind the animated music video below. The guy is an artistic genius in my book. Go to his Facebook page and Like It. Then go to his YouTube page and subscribe. You won’t be sorry! And thank you Juanjo Guarnido for being such a great artist. If I’m someday 50% the artist he is, I’d be very happy indeed!
