First new drawing of Plan 9 that I’ve done in a long time. The original pencil sketch is below as some folks like to see my drawing process.
Good news: I have started back on my ADHD medication after a short, doctor approved, break. This has jump-started my brain for the better and this drawing is the outcome of being on the medication for a couple of days. I am hopeful it will continue to help me return to drawing. I’m anxious to get back to the 1977 gang and finish up the New York story line. So, count on more content very soon!
Sad news: Mike Pinder, keyboardist for the Moody Blues in the ’60s and ’70s, has passed away at age 82. I got to meet Mike on a meet-and-greet tour he did at Best Buy stores back in the 1990s that coincided with the release of one of his solo albums. I’m a big fan of the Moody Blues and Mike’s songs always spoke to me. The song below is one that will pick me up when I’m feeling down.
Glad to hear your getting back into the swing of things, cant wait to see new pages. Pencil sketch looks great, can’t wait to see the color rendition.
Thank you! The finished drawing is now posted. Didn’t take as long as I thought it would. I’m hoping that’s a good sign.
I’m sort of off-again/on-again for the Moodies but mostly on. I like a lot of their stuff, generally the early works, but some of them just push the wrong buttons.
It balances I suppose and that’s probably better than slavishly liking things that don’t fit you.
I particularly like the bass line in ‘Just a Singer’ it always makes me stop and listen

I don’t know why but that bass always makes me want to segue straight into the 5 Man Electrical Band’s ‘Absolutely Right’

John Lodge is an oft overlooked bass player. He’s an excellent bassist and should get more recognition for his playing skills, but the Moody Blues are often panned for their musical style. Soft progressive rock isn’t for everyone, but people should at least acknowledge the musical abilities of the members.
I followed along with the Moodies up until “Long Distance Voyager” after which I lost interest as the band was becoming a Justin Hayward backing band. I love Justin’s works, but you could tell the others were just going along for the ride and the money.
Also, “Absolutely Right” is a damn good song and it is still in heavy rotation on my playlists. I like it so much better than “Signs.”
I like it! And I see you got a new tailpiece for that bass. I like the looks of the previous one, even if it was somewhat confusing. :–)
Thank you! I haven’t found the perfect 3D reference model of an SG bass yet. The model I’m using now is a generic SG guitar and I heavily modify it into the version you see in this drawing.
