I had just the worst day on Thursday. There seems to be a Karma around myself and Thursdays. Most of the time they go by like normal days… but then on occasion, like yesterday, the world turns upside down. It was a busy day to start with but then nothing really went the way it was suppose to. I am normally a “go with the flow” kinda guy as you really can’t fight nature, but yesterday (or today as I’m writing this post) was a real killer. I won’t go into boring details, as I know many, many folks have worst days then me, but still, it sucked.
So much so that I really have to say that today’s comic doesn’t do it for me. It moves the story along just fine, and actually opens the door for the BIG California road trip our gang is about to undertake (thus why the Chevy is being repaired!), but I’m “bleh” with it. My drawing of it came out half-assed compared to what I’ve been doing lately and I was interupted CONSTANTLY while drawing/inking it and that just throws me off. I had been ahead most of the week with the comics, and in theory I had plenty of time on Thursday to create this “simple” comic. UGH! What a bitch of a day…
Thank God it’s FRIDAY and I can crack open the last Killian’s Red in the fridge. Been saving it for a time just like this. Watch it be bad… (Edit: It was excellent, BTW)
Billy Preston not only rocked the electric piano on the Beatles’ “Get Back” (and got like THE only credit as an extra musician) but cranked out a fair amount of hits himself. Billy’s songs were the hit of George Harrison’s first & only US tour in 1973. Today’s title was his first No. 1 hit in the USA and brings our story’s circle back around to the band getting on the road to California. OH! That’s what it means… clever bastard.
See, and you thought I was just messing around with the flame thrower storyline! Truth be told, the idea was thought up by my 12 year old son, Adam, as we drove in the car a couple weeks ago. He nearly wet his pants as he improvised the scenes in the car with me. So, my son who loves to watch me to draw boobies added to the 1977 story. Good for him! Just for that, I’ll draw some more boobs next week just for him. YES!
Have a good weekend… I’m gonna get drunk if I can. 🙂
My whole last week was like that. I finally had to take myself aside and give me a little pep talk. Mostly it was “Get over yourself and make the decision to be happy again.”
When you make art in a bad mood, any time you look at it after that all you can see is the bad mood, even if the art is good. It’s not like I’m saying anything you don’t already know, but just accept it and move on. I guarantee you’re a way more harsh critic than any of us are.
You’re absolutely right, and normally my own little “pep” talks keep me going just fine. Maybe I was retaining water or something… just seemed like yesterday was a total bitch. And, yes, I will look at this comic and think of what a frustrating day it was, but I’ll also look at it and smile as it was in the past and over with. Sometimes, that’s all I need.
I’m already past it though, today is going to fine… even if it’s worse than yesterday, it’ll be fine as I’m gonna get heavily “medicated” in a little bit and just smile for the rest of the weekend.
Munchies anyone? 🙂
Keep on boobing!
😀
Nice weekend for ya!
Voting for the Tournament is now open! May the best webcomics win! 😀
Also, it’s always good to just sit back and listen to some music and have a cold one then tackle any issues you may have 🙂
I smell an opportunity. It smells kinda like toasted marshmallows.
Come by my place I have a 1/4 keg tapped in the kitchen.
RE: Antonious – Love those 1/4 kegs… I’ll bring my own mug! 🙂
I hope you enjoyed the shots of tequila that I drank for you last night!! I know I did! =)
RE: Ziggy – Yep. Felt them all the way from here. Tequila will knock you on your ass every time, man. Wicked stuff. That and Vodka…
She is a knock-out!
Going from drawing and inking to just drinking… I like it!
