And that’s exactly how it goes too… “Hey, it won’t start!!” “Did you pump the gas….” VRRROOOMM!!Β AndΒ your head was still inside the engine compartment.
Jeff is about to come up with one of two very clever, well, clever for me, ways of using his new found toy.Β They may need a new house by the time this story comes to an end!
π
Judas Priest’s “White Heat, Red Hot” finally came up on my search for songs with “fire” in the title or the lyrics itself.Β There are a TON of obvious ones, like “Smoke On The Water” but you folks want just a little more than just the easy 70s songs, so I like to dig deep sometimes.
I didn’t remember the deep library of 70s albums that Priest had! I always think of their 80s stuff, but this title comes from their 1978 album “Stained Class” and features some lyrics along the line of guys going into battle or something.Β I suck at lyric interpretation… Hey, I’m a bass player.

store owner: Sorry man I can only sell this thing to a licensed professional.
jeff: let me show you my license then *pulls out bag of weed*
store owner: you might also be interested in our portable fire extinguishers
Stained Class!! – had that album too, been a very very long time since I heard that!
I hope that the squirrell fire department’s on permanent stadby now……
Maverick…too funny.
Flame Thrower: $100
Fuel: $20
Charcole: $10
5 pounds Chicago Green: Priceless…
π
RE: vince – The Squirrels!! May have to include them somehow… hmmm…
Shame you can’t wander into the 80s art rock scene. “Burning Down The House” is just so perfect…
RE: roxysteve – To cover my ass, I’ve made up a “rule” in which I can use a song title from any decade as long as the group or song has some sort of 70s tie-in. If my fading old man memory serves, somewhere in the archives I did use that title already I do believe. But then, my morning Mountain Dew has not kicked in yet.
π
in my head I am hearing butthead yell FIRE
I want a flamethrower!
Interesting bit about rules for using songs from the ’70s. Speaking as somebody who throws all time-period rules out of his comic, I do not share your pain π
Oh, snap! That last panel leaves so much destruction to the imagination. π
there goes the neighborhood!
RE: dgriff13 – LOL! That’s actually a really great Joe Walsh album title from 1981.. you were, hmmm….., 2? π
Joe Walsh? The Smoker You Drink The Player You Get was a great album with a great title! And good choice of Judas Priest. KK was a red hot player.
I got my flame thrower taken away from me when I was nine along with my cross bow and battle axe.
That couldnt by any means end up good.
[Byron] Then I call Shenanigans. Where’s my broom?
Of course. Why WOULDN’T you set off a flamethrower in your house?
What exactly happened to the old house again?
@John K
Hehhehhhehe Fire Rules!
Ah, Priest! My high-school favorites!
Thanks for doing a shout-out to their 1970s output. Although I discovered ’em right on the cusp (1979) and my favorite Priest album is 1980’s British Steel, I always favored their ’70s work (Hell Bent for Leather, Sin After Sin, Stained Class and the inimitable Sad Wings of Destiny*) over their 1980s stuff. After British Steel, I always felt they steadily declined, with the incredible Painkiller and the enjoyable Angel of Retribution as the only exceptions. Sure, Screaming for Vengeance is cool, but IMHO if you combined the best tracks on that album, Defenders of the Faith and Point of Entry you MIGHT get an album as good as Hell Bent for Leather. Popularity – meh!
Me and my high-school friends used to play D&D while listening to Priest, Sabbath, Rush and Maiden albums. Stained Class was a favorite of mine then; whenever I wanted to make the players sweat, I’d cue up “Hero’s End” and let them wonder what I had in mind…
Welcome back! I missed you guys! π

The Crazy World of Arthur Brown – Fire! (You’re gonna burn…)
This band was 1960’s, but its members went several ways afterwards… ELP, Atomic Rooster, et c…
I’m watching your comments post as you make your way through the archive. A lot here, isn’t there?
