The “Twilight Zone” use to scare the heck out of me as a very young child in the early 60s. What a great show it was for its time. But then I’ve cross-pollinated themes here as Bud and Jeff are dressed like the MIB guys. I’m kinda that way…
I know, Golden Earring’s “Twilight Zone” came out in 1982, but they had a big hit in 1973 with “Radar Love” and I’m pulling one of those rare exceptions where IF the group was big in the 70s, then I can use ANY of their songs. It’s a big cheat and one I won’t use too often. But it is a cool song and man, it fit today’s comic perfectly!
Oh, Lorraine is wearing a traditional Swedish outfit called SVENSKA DRÄKTEN. Thanks to my friend Joppe from Sweden for keeping me up on Swedish traditions. Well, that and Google. 🙂
1977 takes to the “friendly skies” in Wednesday’s comic.

Totally enjoying the comic… um… hey. Why can’t I find your name on here?I mean, I see your SIGNATURE, but uh… I can’t exactly READ it. Jeeze, I feel stupid.
Anyway, I just wanted to say good job, and ask how you were enjoying Manga Studio EX. I color a comic in Photoshop but I’m always on the lookout for ways to improve/streamline things.
So thanks a lot… you.
(Jeeze…)
Hi Kevin! Well, with the size of my ego, I am shocked I missed that I don’t have my name anywhere on the site… well, it’s Byron Wilkins (first initial is W)! Son of a gun, I feel silly!
I love Manga Studio EX. I’ve tried a couple other drawing packages, but this one was built for comic artists. I don’t use half the tools in the software as I’m not drawing an entire comic book, but it’s nice to know they’re there.
I wasn’t trained to draw in PhotoShop and I use it mainly to make graphics for videos/websites and/or print ads. Maybe I dont’ have my WACOM set right, but the tablet pen has never felt right in PS, but man it’s just like a pencil in Manga Studio.
I’ve used it for nearly 2 years now and haven’t use a sketch pad in nearly as long. There you go… you! 🙂
I’m not old enough to remember the 80’s (despite being born in the 80’s, I don’t remember too much until 1987 or so when I turned 4…) but I found the song Twilight off the “Light Years” compilation CD I bought for my mum a few years back…
As we’re talking great music from around 1977, can we expect to see a reference to the double-A single We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions from that year?
I just LOVE Lorraine’s outfit. Blue and yellow, can’t be more Swedish than that, right.
Well, I’m from Sweden and I can’t remember ever seen that color combination on one of these classic Swedish creations, they are usually more colorful.
One thing bugs me, why is Sweden used when a far away country that has to be exotic/esoteric in some way. It sucks big time In real life.
Welcome Jasse! Lorraine’s dress was from a photograph I found that was pretty much as you see it, but I’m sure from what I’ve read the dresses are much more colorful and detailed than what I’ve depicted.
There are parts of every country that seem exotic to outsiders. And every country also has those parts that are not so great. If people were to only see, let’s say, the beaches of L.A. they’d think America was this great beach-side country where nothing but pretty women hang out, when we all know that’s far from the truth. As I study Latvia’s history, they thought Americans were ALL millionaires due to our having so many “luxury” items.
Eye of the beholder I guess! But, I appreciate your input!
I could see jeff being a MIB agent.
Love Lorraine Swedish outfit Robin should wear one too they would look so cute.
