How’d you like to suddenly remember you have a ’67 Firebird 400 convertible in your garage? Damn… Manga Studio’s curved line tool is the best and let’s me draw over images like cars and stuff so I get a nice reproduction without too much fuss.
I fussed too much over this damn comic… I then got frusrated and tried to cut it down, then tossed it all in and just finished as I originally planned. Always go with your first impressions they say, and I should have.
The comic’s title is from BTO’s 1977 release (and their final for 9 years) called “Freeways” and this was one of the singles from the album, but BTO’s time was over and this album fizzled except for us diehard BTO fans (all three of us).
Enjoy! 🙂
PS: Went to the new Bond film just to see the Star Trek trailer and the damn theatre (Randall 15 in Batavia, Illinois) was NOT showing it as advertised. Poo-poo on them! I saw it on YouTube but it’s not the same… Oh, and in my opinion this was not a good Bond film at all.
That’s interesting. I picked up on a vibe from this comic… at one point I found myself thinking “I wonder how much time he spent on this?” It wasn’t bad at all, I want to be clear, it was just a little… different. (Silly artsy-fartsy esoterica.)
Sorry about the movie! Hope you got your money back!
Too much time to be honest… I was looking at Batman/Robin poses on the internet, searching for the car… then I drew out the car and worked on the shading. I got pissed at how I draw hands several times, but finally got them right… and to top it off, the comic doesn’t really end with a joke but more of “same bat channel, same bat time” feel…
You can work things too much sometimes and this one was one of those times when simpler was better… still a nice looking comic though! Love the car… drool, drool…
😀

Damn…
It was supposed to be one of those typewriter-composed characters…but the final result lost all the correct spacings. 🙁
I was just referencing a Monty Python bit from “Holy Grail” when John Cleese tells one of the other guys how to make the “agghhh” sound… I make references to obscure stuff sometimes and this is one of those moments…
🙂
Actually, it was Terry Jones who was instructing Michael Palin in being hit on the head.
And it was from the TV show, not the Holy Grail.
Yeah, I watch a LOT of Python.
Sweet car! I’d prefer a ’74 Pontiac GTO personally, but sometimes you’ve got to make do 🙂
