Today’s comic title is from the Zombies in 1964… BUT… Santana did a cover on their 1977 album “Moonflower” and for a cover, Santana’s version is not bad!
Then… while looking up today’s song title on iTunes, I ran across a group called “Plan 9”! The bastards! They were originally formed in… 1979. Oh, so close. So, I’m guessing Bud and the gang will be broken up by then and thus the name free to use. We’ll see. The real Plan 9 was neo-pshchedelic… whatever that means.
THEN… before you go postal on me about Jeff playing with a Rubik’s Cube… the toy was first released in limited numbers in BUDAPEST in… yes, 1977. Now little ol’ Budapest is south of a certain country our gang visited last summer. So either Jeff bartered for it in Latvia or his Dad got it for him. Rich Dad’s do that you know…
For you non-Quantum Leap fans, hang on, only one more before 1977 returns to normal. 🙂
Oh, I’m running a small little contest over on 1977’s FaceBook page. Find it here. Look for the Note about “Show Me Your 1977.” Oh, yeah…
Actually Byron, I prefer the Santana version of She’s Not There 🙂
CLASS?
SHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT UUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPPPP!
😀
byron, cheech and chong rule. 🙂
Very cool!
The Rubik’s Cube is my mortal enemy!!!
RE: wit – Apparently the orginal version from 1974 was held together by magnets! Easier to cheat that way… 🙂
Magnets? Yeah, THAT would have been a lot easier.
“Sure, um, man.” LOL!
Heh. Nosebleed Al. Goodwon.
RE: dee – “What I did on my summer vacation. I got up, went downtown, looked for a job and hung out. On the second day, I got up, went downtown…”
One of their best bits… that and “Waiting for Dave”
“Bailiff, whack his peepee!” Cheech and Chong ruled.
It appears I’ve educated a few “youngsters” as that there WAS a version of “She’s Not There” BEFORE Santana’s cover. Don’t you folks listen to the oldies stations? It was only 1964… oh crap, I was 7. Okay, enough said. I’m old….
🙂
I saw Santana on the tour after that album was released, at California Jam II in March of ’78. “She’s Not There” was the highlight of their set, which, along with the set by Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, were (I thought) the strongest of the concert!
I didn’t know Santana did a cover… I’ve always been a fan of the zombies (I’m a youngster).
Sister Mary Elephant!!!!!
RE: Laureltree – Santana’s 1978 album “Inner Secrets” had a cover of “Stormy” originally by the Classics Four in 1968. But it was the track “Open Invitation” on that album that gets my electric guitar solo buzz going. Man, can that guy play!
🙂
this is a funny comic. I like the style. Hey check out my comic Warroirborn. Let me know what you think. http://www.drunkduck.com/warriorborn

Stockwell Dean from H P Lovecraft horror to time travel with Robyn bet he wish he was with Lee Maryweather in the Time Tunnel. Incidentally Robyn looks good in a lab coat almost as good as Lee but no snappy dressed MPs nor Greeks and Trojans in pleated mini skirts. Nor Pearl harbor, French revolution ancient Egypt or Rome Toga party Animal House. Too bad Rick Santotum was no party Ceaser but then it’s back to Classic times. When a centaur named Newton is neutered by Hercules because Newton was just too horny for his own good. So now you know why Newton has such a high pitch voice longing for his loins.
