Squirrel time…
Tarney Spencer’s “No Time To Lose” was a single that got a lot of play on mix tapes back in the day. Love the riff and it’s just a fun song. I’d say the squirrels have no time to lose if Jeff is successful in his plans. We shall see this week!

Always glad to see another comic, but the important thing is to do what you gotta do. If you’ve got even more mayhem going on than before, and that was a lot of mayhem to start with, you don’t need any excuses to take your time. Do whatever comics you feel like, take time when you need it. Basically just take care.
Well, it just wears me out and that in of itself is enough to drive me bonkers. Thank you for the words of support, I’m doing what I can.
🙂
They say that suffering makes for great art…not to make light of what you’re going through, but today’s sketch is exceptional! The shading takes it to new heights. Just sayin’…
Thanks, man. I gotta tell you, I love the 3rd panel with the squirrel on her tip-toes sneaking off with the stash. I’m better at certain cartoon animals then I am with the human form. My next comic will be animal based for sure…
🙂
Hmm. For my own part I’d have to say I’m a ~cough cough~ ‘people person’ and have hardly ever been able to stomach animal-based comics because the anthropomorphisation of non-human animals squicks me bigtime – that’s one of the larger reasons I despise Disney and old WB animations so much :-/ OTOH if you channel, say, the spirit of Walt Kelly, I’ll be right there with you!
Is the yellow detailing on Bud’s shoulders new, or have I just been spectacularly unobservant before now?
Bud’s shirt changes slightly each year. This year the shirt sprouted shoulder stripes and the yellow details. So, nope, they’re new.
But, I love the old WB cartoons. But Walt Kelly rules the world for sure. I’m not nearly clever enough to pull off his humor, but I imagine in time I could certainly emulate his style.
I have faith in your emulation abilities, sir!
When you mess with the stash, your going to get blast. 😀
Nice! 😛
I love it. That’s squirrel is really fantastic! Sometimes the stuff we make when we don’t have a lot of time really has a lot of appeal.
Same here, by the way. I’m literally numb from this weekend. It’s crazy right now and here I am doing a comic. But cartoonists are crazy people, huh?
There’s just so much in all of our lives and then to try and cram it into 2 days of the weekend is ridiculous. But, we gotta work, so it’s a double edged sword. I had life a lot easier back in 1977.
🙂
I’m going to repeat what folks have already said, take your time, man. You and your family have already been hit pretty hard. I’m sorry to hear that life is still dealing you a lot more crap. Here’s hoping things finally start getting better for you and yours, and soon!
My compliments on today’s strip, it’s looking great so far. I love the panel with the tiptoeing squirrel, too, and the last panel with Bud crushing his beer can is a hoot. Oh yeah, he’s pissed. 🙂
Hang in there, man, and all the best.
You know, I keep thinking the same thing, then I round a corner and WHAM! Shit hits you in the face. Gets very tiring after a while. I surely want to get past all of this too. I think not until my wife’s hips are replaced will we begin to settle down around here. That’s many months off for now. Ugh… but there are bright spots to my life, so it’s not all gloom and doom.
What a coincidence!!!!! this morning, a squirrel almost steals our bagels’ bag. Hahahaha!
Squirrels are sneaky little bastards and will take what they want. Small world too! I am glad you got to enjoy your bagels instead of chasing a squirrel up a tree.
😛
I’ve been telling Kate for years that squirrels are evil little thieving bastards, but she seems to think they’re just tree-dwelling kittens.
Love the tip-toeing thief in panel 3.
Hey Jeff! I’ve got this…
Yeah, people either think squirrels are these furry little woodland creatures that emit pure joy, or like you and I, think the little bastards out to be blasted into the next county. Wait until you get a next of the little buggers in your roof sometime and hear them hiss at you in the walls… not so furry then…
😛
Keep on keepin’ on, bro. I left Latvia two years ago with the clothes on my back, $50 K in debt, managing my business into a bankruptcy across the Atlantic, and one suitcase limited to 20 KG (including the suitcase itself, which was ~7 KG). Been crawling and scraping by every day since.
I consider myself lucky that most of my losses were material. I really feel for you that you’re dealing with such a horrendous personal situation. My best wishes for you, always. It’s the best I’ve got these days.
Crazy? It’s the new Zen. I’d about sell off my left arm to be sane enough to “only” be crazy. Fortunately, I seem to be making slow progress without having to make that trade. Yet.
Oh yeah … squirrel! If you’ve somehow not seen it yet, give yourself three minutes of sanity and google “squirrel catapult.” The video & animated gif from it are all over the top five hits. You can’t miss it. 😀
I know of several folks like you who have made that sort of journey and survived and it does motivate me a lot. We all have our shit, it’s just how we deal with it. Normally, I’m a “let it roll” kinda guy, but this month has been pure shit and I’m kinda tired of it. I see some light and hopefully it’s not a train.
I shall Google “squirrel catapult” and take a moment to laugh. If it weren’t for my sense of humor and this comic, I’d take a hammer to my skull some days.
😛
Damned fuzzy-tailed tree rats! Is this the start of the incident that got the gang busted?
Take your time and deal with the important things. We are all pulling for you.
No, the gang gets busted next week. 😛
THAT must have been an interesting night for the little bugger… and yeah, life sucks the big one some times, and it seems like the worst of it all piles up on you at once. So take your time and do what you need to.
Can you imagine squirrels getting baked on pot? Now that’s comedy gold…
🙂
You do realize you’re drawing that now, right? 😛
