First the title… from Mountain’s 1970 album called “Climbing!” Great rock album, and I think one of their better tunes. In case you don’t know… Mountain did the original “Mississippi Queen” that Ozzy covered a year or so back.
Wait just one minute, now… You are asking “What the heck are you doing here, Byron?” And I reply that “Onomatopoeia” is the word for describing what comic artists do when we use words like “BAM!” or “FRRAAPP!!” in our comics. There’s a word for that? Yep, and today is the first annual “use onomatopoeia in your webcomic day” and thus… I have.
OH, you mean Lorraine? Hmm… girls will be girls, no? You’ll have to see where this goes, but you’re getting a bit more on Lorraine’s background in upcoming comics. Also, if you were Sam and had been leaping around the continuum for ages, wouldn’t you need a good kiss now and then? I would…
When I wrote this, I wanted to end it on a single comic, but I came up with essentially two really good ideas that linked together. If I did them in one comic, it felt rushed to me, so I made a two-parter. I hate that too, but it ends Wednesday. See you then!

Though onomatopoeia is (one of) the most awesome onomatopoeia I’ve seen, it’s not limited to comics: to take a “piss” is an onomatopoeia as well…
And a 1977 style bake sale should be fun. Can I pre-order some brownies?
I’m not following shit of these latest pages…but these new blouses you’ve been designing for Lorraine are great!
RE: ferabreu – That was one of my fears of doing a “Quantum Leap” series of comics is that if you have never seen the show, this makes no sense what so ever. Google Quantum Leap and you can get an idea of what the show was about. Essentiall the character Sam “leaps” into people in the past to “set right what once went wrong.” He is seen NOT as Sam, but as the person he’s “leaped” into… thus the mirror in frame 1 shows Robyn, yet it is Sam who is talking. Luckily the series ends Wednesday and its back to the old rock and roll storyline.
I’m glad now I limited this story to just a few strips. It originally was much longer. 🙂
This may be my favorite page to date. (No, not for the girl kiss… though, rock on!) First, the “convenient plot device” caught me totally by surprise, and I loved it. Second, I had been wondering what the hell Sam could be doing there that would be important enough to require his presence, and the sudden zooming to the end of the “episode” by congratulating Sam for the bake sale and moving the boys out really tickled my funny bone. Finally, the onomatopoeia just made me laugh out loud. All because you nailed the end of a Quantum Leap show, and have now left me wondering WHY it was important to separate the boys from the girls.
Is it because there is going to be a huge fire and no more than half the cast can be sacrificed? Or maybe someone is going to meet and have a relationship with a person they would not otherwise have because of living with people of the opposite sex.
Tune in next time…
Hey Kevin!
First, thank you very much! I wanted to move the QL story along quickly, but at the same time, not just make it a random appearance as that would be unsatisfying to everyone. And it was time the boys moved on… (more in a moment).
The “plot device” bit in the 1st frame is a HUGE nod to MAD magazine in its glory days. They’d have all types of silly shit hidden away in their drawings and I LOVED that stuff. So, that is for all you MAD fans. (magazine or otherwise…)
Yes, WHY was Sam there? Yes, to move the boys out, but that must have effected something in the (near) future for him to “right that wrong.” And, you my friend, have been picking up on the hints I’ve left in other comics. Yes, a romance is indeed about to blossom, and not between the main four characters. So, toon in as more is yet to come….
😀
*Onomatopoeia!*
*laughs loud enough to scare the cats*
This is gonna be interesting…
Hetro normal to hot lesbian action ah romance like Lorraine white crop top works great with short shorts or a mini skirt.
