A character I love to draw but she doesn’t get much time in the comic in her true form is Ms. Satan. Appearing only twice in the comic, once in the story I like to call the “Road Trip” which started way back in 2009 and continued into 2010, and then again in the “Return of the Mystic Frog” in 2014, Ms. Satan usually means trouble for Bud but he manages to hold his own against her deals. Her ever-angry sidekick goat named Frank tries to keep his master on the right road but her ineptitude keeps them hunting for more souls to take to keep the heat on in Hell.
This is one of my favorite drawings of not only Ms. Satan but using a lightning effect over Bud transforming.
Trivia: I always crack myself up with the fact that she does not have real horns, but rather they’re on her hair’s headband. And despite being left-handed, she mostly holds her staff in her right hand because I forget and draw it in her right hand as I’m right handed and it looks natural in that hand to me.
I drew this a while back and it seems to have not surfaced here on the website (or at least that I can find), so I resurrected her as I prepare to relaunch the comic in February. So I’ll keep us all “Runnin’ with the Devil” until then.
Y’know, there seems a certain family resemblance to Lorraine…
She’s not called “Troubles” for nothing you know… 🙂
And like many Hanna-Barbera characters, my characters share a lot of similarities. I openly admit that my character designs are very lackluster. Much like some Anime comics, essentially the only differences between my characters are their hair and clothes.
I know you were not criticizing my character designs, I just went there as that’s how artist’s brains work.
Wonder if Ms Satan burrowed the devil horn head piece from Karla La Vey former high priestess of the church of Satan. Because if she did maybe Karla will tell her were to get black and red stockings for the cold days in hell. Their was a story that Taarna in the 1981 movie Heavy Metal was model after Karla La Vey. Anyway it was fun to dress as Taarna one Halloween wearing a black strapless bikini top, matching bottom, red stockings, knee high boots, blond wig and it’s cold. What one does to look hot anyway is Ms Satan’s top a strapless, bikini, bra, bustier or small corset and is her matching bottom a bikini, g string or thong wonder if her shoes are ballet, ankle boots, heels or pumps it would cool if they were strappy. Incidentally I have a pink bustier and powder blue corset which reminds me of Zenescope’s Grimm’s Fairy tales Different Seasons Bo peep in Los Vegas is doomed to pole dance at a hell fire club. I wrote about Krampus having the same fate after being stripped naked, shaved, declawed, defanged, branded, castrated and then given double Ds. The protagonist has neon green eyes to match her horns, corset, gloves, panties, stockings, heels and whip while Krampus dances to pay the children he terrorized therapy bills. Love Ms Satan’s bouffant hair do is she related to Peg Bundy who tortures Al with sex for Al wisely says nothing good ever comes of it. As for Frank the goat beat he’d chase treasure trolls off bridges I remember a TV show the edge Julie Brown dressed as a treasure troll and mentioned the Bully goat gruff. Frank could even be related to Kingston’s fort Henry’s mascot goat. For his sake hope Bud doesn’t want to eat jerked goat since you can’t mike him and make cheese.
I had never heard of, or knew about Karla LaVey until you mentioned her. I can only assume I’m not the first person to draw Satan as a woman and gave her a horned headband.
And man, I had forgotten about Taarna in “Heavy Metal!” I really, really need to draw her. She has fantastic eyes and is an woman who can kick butt. Right up my alley for pin-ups.
Ms. Satan’s attire in her first appearance in 2009/2010 had her in a behind-the-neck strap red top and pants with a gold belt. As I have never drawn her feet (I hate drawing feet) I can only assume I’d draw her barefoot as I do both Lorraine and Robyn most of the time. For Ms. Satan’s last appearance, I changed her attire to a strapless top with a skimpy red bikini bottom because I knew my audience would like that change. But your suggestion of drawing her in knee-high heeled boots would be a good addition to her outfit.
As far as Frank the Goat goes, I totally ripped him off from the LiveJournal website. In my early days on the internet, a friend of mine recommended LiveJournal to me. I joined for a while, but realized quickly I’m not the kind of person that keeps a journal. But, LiveJournal had a mascot goat name Frank and that’s how Ms. Satan’s sidekick became a goat named Frank.
