I remember once in the TV series of “The Incredible Hulk” David (Bruce) Banner making a comment he needed to invest in stretchy clothing. Bud should do the same… Well, at least Bud can play without worrying about being left-handed! 🙂
Today’s title again has been used by many, many groups. I like the Cars version myself, but today’s title refers to the 1975 hit by Pilot. “Oh, oh, oh, it’s magic, you know…” Another silly pop/rock tune that fits the time period for sure.
I’m going to be out-of-town next week and I’m opening up the Mon/Thurs schedule to guest artists. Already have one for sure. If you’d like to submit one, then feel free. Use any format you’d like… single panel, color, B&W… go nuts. And you do not have to be on-story at all… or take a shot and see if you can fit one in! If I get a bunch of good ones, I’ll post them anyway and you can watch the RSS feed to see when they hit.
So, start drawing! Email me with any questions: byron@1977thecomic.com
Maybe Bud should give him a right cross now, saying something like “That’s for goosing my twin sister!” or something like that. That way it’ll buy him some time to get a change of clothes and get re-ready for this audition from hell!
Too bad the Red Hot Chili Peppers had yet to popularize the “nekkid with socks” look in concert apparel. Iggy Pop, however, was infamous for dropping trou by 1977… but then again, HE was a junkie, not a pothead! 😉
RE: vince – not a bad idea, but Bud has something up his sleeve, so to speak, already! You’ll see on Thursday!
RE: satyrblade – Iggy Pop a junkie?! Say it isn’t so! What is it with musicians anyway? We’re a weird bunch indeed…
I thought about the sock thing, but RHCP’s might get pissed… don’t want Flea chasing me (though he does play bass…). 🙂
You also want to make sure the elastic in your sock is really strong to hang on to Mr. Happy properly!
Now I’ve got that song running through my head… never believe it’s not sooooo, it”s magic… you know.
Personally, the first song that popped into my mind was the 1965 Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Do You Believe In Magic” … and since John Mellencamp did a cover of that in 1976, it’s (sorta) appropriate.
RE: Eddurd – Damn, the Lovin’ Spoonful’s song would have fit better too. I have their stuff too, love “Summer In The City” and who doesn’t?
I try to keep the song titles to 70s era songs, but I’ve branched off now and then. Nice suggestion!
LOL. Good stuff!!
HAHAHAHHA byron, i did expect that. nice work!
DIDNT!
Poor Bud. Of course, if he ever figures out a way to control that change, he could be in for some wacky good times.
Hmm… guest artist eh…?
RE: Wit – Thanks, man! 😀
RE: shozo – “Didn’t!! Did!! Didn’t!! Did too! I’m tellin’ Dad!!”
Sounds like my two older boys when they were wee-lads… 🙂
I sometimes hate Twitter and comment boxes as I screw up typing so many times it’s not even funny. So, no problem!
🙂
RE: Kevin – !!!! Control the change!!! Someone may have hit the nail on the head and that’s all I’ll say… You win a cookie, but it’ll be real stale by the time I mail it to you, so I’ll just eat it and let you know it was really freakin’ good. Umm, um!
🙂
RE: GUEST STRIP!! Yes, anyone interested let me know. I have next Thursday’s slot open, but if I get more I’ll consider posting them all.
the look on troubles face is outstanding i love it,it conveys the term OH S#!T with utter clarity.Thank God for low slung sg basses
hmm… now im thiinking i wanna give it a go.
RE: 11 in 1977 – Thanks! I was going just for that, so cool that I got it! I lover her face… even though I am trying to do a bit more realism on the ladies faces, being able to break that and do a cartoony expression is still fun!
😀
RE: shozo – Absolutely give a go! Nothing to lose except for not trying. I am one to take risks and just go do something. I wouldn’t be doing 1977 today if I hadn’t just jumped in two years ago with my really bad first sketches and all. Bud has come a long way, and I owe it to “just do it, man!” So, go for it!
🙂
Nice flash effect on the 5th frame!
Bud join Doug Clark and his hot nuts during the frat house tour you triple playing guitars nude than clothed or just wearing a jock strip legend in the late 1950s early 1960s. They got whole world by the balls. Great for keggers and toga parties think Animal House.
