Heading to New York city in just under 3 months, the gang is getting ready for their last big adventure and road trip. Here’s all four of the poses that are in the “New York City” poster I’ve created. I may make these into prints if the interest is there. Let me know.
In 1972, the Who released a non-album single called “Join Together” and it was a fair hit for them. After “Quadrophenia” the Who started losing steam, with the occasional resurgence, but nothing compared to the output from “Tommy” to “Quadrophenia”. Sadly, when Keith Moon passed, I don’t think their hearts were really into it anymore. Not knocking the band at all, as they are one of my all-time favorites.
If you sign them I’ll buy them.
I sign everything I sell, unless for some odd reason a person doesn’t want me too, which has happened… never. 🙂
I’ll work on getting these printed and put up on the store here. Thanks, man!
A 70’s band I missed the time around They never caught on this side of the pond. Kid of like Kraftwerke decided they were Kiss. I really like these guys, your milage may vary. Thought you might be amused. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5IKHtDkF3o
Thank you Byron your comic is keeping sane in an insane world ruled by TV character he is not even a real human being if he is the shock will kill me. Donald Jacheim Trump is a gargoyle wearing road kill to cover his horns and the worlds tackiest spray on tan. He filled chapter 11 bankruptcy, divorced twice (can’t blame the women who’d marry a gargoyle) avoided the draft 5 times and has no political experience of any kind you or I make a better president madness Thank goodness you are here it’s just too cold to take jump in the lake the only way to deal with the insanity. You are an American comic writing hero a true friend. Then again I’ll put on my pink swim gang way splash brrrrrrrr!
I’m with you, I’ve fought off anti depressants my whole life, the day after the elections I went in and said “nuke me”. They did……
I think It’s Hard is an underrated album, but I agree that it’s not on the level the band achieved in the late 60s and early 70s. I’m sad that I never got to see them live in their glory days, but at least I saw them in concert once when John Entwistle was still with us.
True, “It’s Hard” is a good album and not often mentioned. I think what I really should say is that the Who’s output after “Quadrophenia” just became bland. Nothing stood out. Again, exceptions to that rule, but overall theirs song were listenable, but nothing to go “Wow, that’s fuckin’ awesome!” Now, “Who By The Numbers” was a transition album of that sound. It still retained some of the great production and overall writing values the of the earlier works, but you could tell they were getting tired. And honestly, I can’t blame them. By 1975, they’b been hard at for a decade or more, and that lifestyle is not easy on you. “Who Are You” really sounded like they needed to just give it up, and with Moon’s death, I don’t think they ever recovered the enthusiasm of writing, performing, and recording songs. Just my 2-cents. 🙂
I always loved 905, but as a teenager gave it a lot more credibility than it deserved.
I get the sense that Entwistle was working on a science fiction themed rock opera of his own, and “905” and perhaps “I’ve Had Enough” were all we got to hear of it from The Who’s catalog. He was a really good songwriter IMO but never got to shine in that regard, being in a band with Pete Townsend. His solo work never really captured the public imagination, but I really like it. “Too Late the Hero” is one of my favorite songs.
So.. did you put them up for sale somewhere? I’ve been checking the 1977 Store link to no avail as yet. I know you have other stuff going on just checking and letting you know I still would like a copy.
No, I haven’t. The holidays drug me down and I’ve not had the energy to get anything accomplished. I’ll get this going here very soon.
I know the feeling, I’m old enough now that Christmas is the holiday medley of deeply missed dead people. This is why I like Halloween, if I think of dead people, what the hell. “Tis the season”
so, what happened to Byron?
I’m here, I’ve just been real quiet due to the holiday blues. It’s a new year and things will start happening very soon. I promise. 🙂
Hey Byron, you doing OK?
It is February now and we are looking forward to the New York trip. Was hoping it would be up now as promised.
February 5th! I always start new stories on my birthday. Come back Sunday. 🙂
