You can bet that kid won’t be getting his Dad’s car anytime soon… Icing interruptus for sure. It also seems metal in 1977 cartoonland is much softer and pliable as it apparently takes on the shape of whatever strikes it hard enough. Hmmm… need some of that for my car’s hood!
This comic is one that really screams for a professional colorist who really knows how to make things pop. I’m getting better, but man, I gotta get some training on digital coloring. So, if anyone out there wants to take a crack at coloring and shading this comic, I’d be happy to spread the word around or help a student add something kinda cool to their portforlio. What better thing to show a potential employer but a rock chick with her boobs plastered to a windshield? Hey, I’d buy that for a dollar…
We finish up with Robyn’s escapades tomorrow. Been an interesting week getting five comics done. But I felt this “action” sequence ran better without interruptions (heh).
Great song for today’s comic! Yes, I’ve used it before, but damn, it fit perfectly. Plus it’s a good song and deserving of a second play!
******************************
ahhh… you’ve captured that 70’s orange car colour perfect as well, byron. 😀
We did have some cheesy colors scheme back then… the plaid car seats were the worst…
🙂
As I suspected, Robyn did, indeed, land on somethings soft. Ouch! Poor girl’s gonna be bruised with that one. That’s a lot of real estate to have all sore. I’m feelin’ for you dear … wish I could ease your pain!
Yep, squished like pancakes. Luckily, the female breast bounces right back. Now if she’d had implants, that windshield would be toast…
🙂
I want one of those for my windscreen please! (OK, actually I want the two of them! 😉 )
I love this comic, and yes, mainly because of the boobs! 😀
Well I’m a man and I ain’t dead yet….
LOL
Keep ’em coming mate!
Windscreen? Those are what keeps the flies out of our houses… You silly UK folks. It’s not a hood either but I can’t remember the term you use.
Come for the boobs, stay for the fun! I should make a t-shirt with “Doobies & Boobies” on it…
😛
Finally! Someone else who uses that line. I was starting to feel like I was the only one who ever saw Robocop. You rock!
“Your move, punk…”
Great movie. Features the Dad from “That 70s Show”. He was a bad-ass in that film for sure.
🙂
Good thing those boobs are real or they would have popped.
They helped soften the landing…
🙂
Phillipe the 2 does a lot of recoloring etc of other folks stuff.
He used to be on DA but got into a fight with some hack that torpedoed him and got him kicked off. his website is http://phillipthe2.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html?zx=7523be596ad70bf1
and btw… cheesy colors? no sir. the mopar high impact colors in the 70’s were the best. Sub-Lime is my favorite. i have a 68 roadrunner in that color. Hemi Orange, Sassy Grass Green, Top Banana Yellow, Plum Crazy Purple. Great names and anything but cheesy. The plad seats did suck though…
Maybe it was the seats that made it cheesy… now the Hemi-Orange is one of my favorite colors. Never been a fan of yellow or purple cars… but that’s just me. Love Italian Red with black highlights… oh yeah.
I’ll check Phillipe out. Yeah, I gave up on DA a long time ago. A lot of punks just fighting it out and I’m too old for that shit.
🙂
Don’t forget the best name for one of the plainer colours… “come and get me Copper”
I think your coloring works well. What kind of look were you hoping to achieve?
One day I’d love to do a comic with Dresden Codak-like coloring, but it would just take way too long to execute.
Oh, you know, that comic book cover look… lots of highlights and shadows… way beyond what I can do. I do okay and it fits the style of the comic just fine, but every so often I’d like to do something special. This one would look cool with all types of reflections from the glass, etc. It makes me want to push myself beyond what I can do and that’s how I grow.
Or frustrate myself, one of the two… 🙂
Ouch. That’s gonna leave a mark.
Oh, yeah – it already did… on the car!
Now, THAT’S what you call a hardbody. (Or better yet, a hard top.)
Someone at the cake-delivery company’s gonna get their asses beat…
Now, now… Robyn revert to violence? I won’t hear it… 🙂
And Robyn *is* a hardbody of sorts…
🙂
Safety cushions!
The original air bags… 😛
Hard body indeed, but I’m glad they’re all hers! Thankfully, I came of age & sowed my wild oats before implants were en vogue… I’ll take naturally endowed any day!
By the way Byron, the Brits’ hood, is “bonnet”. I think they do use “hood”, but it refers to the convertible top if I remember right. Lots of differences in auto terminology: “boot” = trunk, “accumulator” = battery, “dynamo” = generator, “silencer” = muffler, “gearbox” = transmission, “wing” = fender, and on and on. Don’t even start on tools…
Bonnet! That’s the ticket! Reminds me of my great-grandmother or butter… Who uses “bonnet” in this day and age? But then…
I gotta get to UK one of these days… it sounds like one helluva time. I’d go for the bars (pubs) and the chips! That and driving on the wrong side of the road. Gotta do that once. I will have to organize a 1977 Reader’s Fest or something and write it off. I am a business man after all…
🙂
‘Who uses “bonnet” in this day and age?’
We do! And you’re the ones who drive on the wrong side of the road 😛
I have the Knack’s Good Girls Don’t, on a 45. I feel old now. If I had hair I’d pull it out.
