See? I do tie things in… you have to pay attention! And they’ve even been to California where they probably not only learned how to surf but heard the “cowabunga” expression popular with surfers in the 60s/70s… long before Bart Simpson made it famous (once again). Snoopy used it as well, but I digress…
Toon in tomorrow as we find out where and how Robyn lands. Fun for all, except Robyn.
“Who’s Next” not only is one of the best damn rock albums ever, it is also the best damn pun in the world. The four members of the Who having just pissed on a big concrete pillar and of course they’d say “Who’s next?” Damn it all, I love this album. When we launched our close-circuit radio station in my High School in 1973 (I built the HUGE speakers for use in the cafeteria) it was “Won’t Get Fooled Again” that was the first song played. What else? So, let’s Go Mobile with Robyn today! Enjoy!
********************
I was expecting a Beach Boys tune to go with the surf theme … but The Who works (always!). Going Mobile has to one of the 30 or so of their songs that fall in my Top Five Who songs of all time. 😉
Love how Robyn is able to think on her feet & improvise under panic conditions. *sigh* Amazing gal, that Robyn! 😀
Really … she thinks & reacts as fast as any superhero. Could be interesting chemistry there with Jeff’s alter ego. A nemesis in the making?
Just realized that her hands have no trace of icing by the final panel. The song for today could also have been Lick Your Fingers Clean. Not that I wanna start a flame war over cartoon physics or anything …
Diggin it. Who’s Next is one of my favorite albums, and as a long time motorcyclist, I relate big to Going Mobile.
Y’keep me coming back to the strip with your story and art. Rock on.
Also a fan of the “Who’s Next” album. And a salute for using “Won’t Get Fooled Again”. That’s one of the songs that automatically make me crank the volume up to max (others are “Separate Ways” by Journey, and Bob Seger’s “Hollywood Nights”).
And the winner for best line goes to:
“Mom’s gonna kill me if I die naked!”
Still, better than dying in dirty underwear.
Land on something soft? That’s what she said! Sorry I’ve been getting into those jokes a lot lately. D’ Oh!
In that case, “she” has obviously led a life of disappointment.
Re: “Cowabunga!”
Don’t forget that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles used it as well, dude.
Not my favorite Who song, but oh so appropriate.
