First off, it’s great to be back from my week off. I missed drawing our struggling quartet and it was fun to get back into the drawing routine.
Some “screen time” for Robyn and Jeff! Yay! And Bud is not being weird, remember he’s wearing Lorraine’s pants and they don’t fit all that well, so he’s just holding them up! I wanted to make reference to Buns of Steel, but that was an 80s thing… oh well.
Calling all Rush fans! Yes, I’ve used a Rush song title! It is from their 1975 album “Fly By Night” and this title is just perfect for today’s comic (for many obvious reasons). But dig this lyric from the song: “Behind the beauty, cracks appear. Once with heads held high. They sang out to the sky. Why do their shadows bow in fear?” Now isn’t that just dead on for today’s comic? Rocky will certainly bow in fear for sure.
The band gets a name! Stand-by for action on Thursday! 🙂

Now there was an Excellent Album! Fly by Night is my fav with 2112 a close second!
Yay, Rush! When I heard “The Trees” on WRXL back around ’79 or so, it changed my ideas of what Rock was capible of being… which, considering that ’79 was also the year I discovered Judas Priest, AC-DC, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, The Ramones, the B-52s and The Plasmatics, was saying something!
Yay Rush! I love 1977 and I love Rush. More Rush references please!
Attention All Planets Of the Solar Federation…………absolutley. Rush is my favorite band (religion) thanks for making a reference.Hemispheres,2112,Caress of Steel are my favorite albums (yes i said albums just goes to prove how old i am) ive always loved the epic stories. wish they would do another one
Hi everyone! I knew a Rush reference would make you all happy. The only problem I have is lining up there song titles/meaning to the silly happenings of our 1977 gang. Rush is pure progressive rock and Bud’s band is, well, not. I’ll do my best to keep the Rush references coming!
Also, Rush overshadowed the fact that Lorraine is only wearing Jeff’s shirt and has used her butt to “snap” Rocky back a few steps. Rush is cool, but come on guys, a great butt joke is happening here! LOL!!
😀
And I said it on dA Sunday: Buns of a Steel Trap!
Yet another Canadian referance. You’re doing me proud here man.
RE: CavemanCavan – There’s a whole bunch of Canadian rockers (and some not so rockers) I’m into… Bryan Adams, Guess Who, BTO, Neil Young… there’s more but it’s early, so that’s all off my very tired brain!
Seems if you don’t play hockey, you rock and roll in Canada, eh?
So, when are you gonna name-check a certain Uriah Heep song? 🙂
AH! Someone else remembers “Sweet Lorraine” by Uriah Heep. I’m particular to their hit “Stealin” but you can bet both of these songs are on my “to use” title list someday.
I use to just stare at the album covers for Uriah Heep too. Like this one for Magician’s Birthday… http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3d/TheMagiciansBirthday.jpg
Heep and Yes had the same type artist for their covers I think. Far out, man…
I like seeing the supporting cast more too! A story with the girls as the main characters would be cool for a change of pace someday.
Sorry your vacation was so frenetic. Lena and I discovered that we enjoy the second or third trip someplace WAY more because we’re not so crazed to see everything there is. One time we went to Disneyworld just to see the shows. We ignored the rides (except for a very few favorites) and took naps in the middle of the day. It was the best vacation EVER.
yay Rush 😀 I’m just getting into them at the moment, they have some really great songs!
That is one deadly bun trap 😛
