A little something for your Halloween. Considered yourself treated and not tricked. 😛
Had to do something for Halloween and who better to draw than Lorraine as Vampirella teasing a mummified Bud with a beer? So, I loaded up my iTunes with “scary” songs and started to draw. I should draw to theme music more often as it made it go faster and was truly inspirational. I draw best when I’m crankin’ tunes of some type. Oddly it helps me focus. I know of folks who create while crankin’ loud rock and Stephen King comes to mind as a prime example.
“Bad Moon Rising” is one of my favorite Creedence tunes. Their 1970 album “Cosmo’s Factory” is their best album by far and well worth the price of admission simply for the amount of singles it sports. I’m also dedicating this song to all my friends and readers out on the East Coast as they get pounded by hurricane Sandy and hope you all do well.

Well, Sandy hasn’t washed us away yet … but the winds are beginning to pick up after some really spooky calm the past couple of days. I’m about 30 miles West of Philly … the center of the storm is supposed to pass about 5-10 miles South of me sometime Tuesday morning.
So. Might be without power for a week. Kind’a semi-rural and the old growth trees haven’t been blown around with sustained winds like this for well over 50 years, if not 100. Not good news for the region. Means a lot will be coming down all over the place.
But, we’re buttoned up tight, stocked up on firewood, dry goods & water. Chainsaws are sharpened like razors and several gallons of fuel mix on hand, so should be able to cut our way to civilization within a day under the worst of circumstances.
Not sure how I’m gonna survive being off the Interwebz for three days or more. THAT will be the REAL Halloween horror show for folks like me. 😉
Thanks so much for putting up the artwork! Is wonderful! Gives me something nice to visualize. I’m quite certain that’s her special 420 homebrew. I wonder what happened to the head on it? Headless for Halloween?
And … CCR. Dude. I had everything by them on vinyl for years upon years. Played ’em all ’til sunlight shone through the bottom of the grooves. Pure Prairie League, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Allman Brothers, Ten Years After, Little Feat … my psychedelic “southern” rock go-to section to this day.
Have You Seen the Rain and Lodi and their cover of Grapevine among many, many favorite memories. 😀
Interesting, but this is the first time anyone has mentioned my not drawing a head on beer. I rarely, if every, do. I can’t remember at the moment, but seems I have at least once. I will have to make note of this and start adding a nice head to my beers now. 😛
Take care and know I’m thinking good thoughts for all of you out there in this storm’s path. But, any reason to fire up a chain saw is good in my book.
No head? how disappointing.
For CCR I’ll turn my speakers on!
With her fangs, I don’t think good head is what Bud is wanting…
Oh, you mean on the beer… see my comment above. 😛
Awww…the song didn’t work for me.
Crap… Working now. Silly GrooveShark…
It took me a sec to realise GOF was talking about the beer, I was distracted by the little strips of red material…..
She’s holding a beer? Really?
😛
I can’t say that I’m a huge Creedence fan, but I do remember as a 1970’s teenager being tantalized by Vampirella’s costume and trying to figure out the physics of how it could work in real life. The same with some of Dave Cockrum’s Legion of Super Hero costumes. Anyone remember Princess Projectra?
NONE of the super-heroine’s outfits ever work in the real world. Boobs that big would be out of that outfit on the first hop unless firmly taped into place.
The death of disco, who really showed up to mourn it?!? It certainly didnt end up, ya know, “Stayin Alive”! [wink] [sowwy]
Why do you think a Vampire and a Mummy are standing nearby? No one else would be.
[nudge, nudge]
😛
Nobody even showed up to dance on the grave?
Damn, I should have put in “Born To Be Alive” for today’s song! A disco song that fits today’s comic even better. Blast my old age!
🙂
I think that not long after Bud has finished that beer he’ll do something much appropriate than dancing on Disco’s grave. 😀
That cemetary would look SO much better if only there was also a headstone that read RIP – RAP..
You got that right…
🙂
Happy Halloween! 🙂
And to you!
Very nice work on Lorraine. I’ve always admired women who put attention into detail in their costumes. Oh, Bud’s there too?
Do you remember the 90s Vampirella movie with Roger Daltrey slumming as the villain?
Holy crap, that film looks terrible. Just saw the trailer on YouTube. (And where would the world be without YouTube?).
Dig Daltrey as a singer, but an actor? Not so much.
I had no idea that Vampirella “existed” as far back as the 70’s. I just discovered her in my comic book shop a few months ago. So far, I enjoy reading comics that feature her.
Apparently Vampirella first appeared in September of 1969. I found her later on in the ’70s. She’s made a resurgence here and there, but I couldn’t resist doing Lorraine as her.
She really makes a good, Vampi.
Vampirella has been around a surprisingly long time. Really dig the tribute man
Vampirella has never looked so swell! Nice, Byron. 🙂
Man it is a good thing I actually read your posts or it would have driven me insane as to why Lorraine’s outfit looked so familiar
Well, I went and peeked in to see what you were up to for halloween, and I found a couple updates I’d missed and some good news. Glad to hear that you’ll be getting things going again in January. Hope the rest of your life is getting less drama.
Oh, yeah. Vampirella remains an essential part of my ’70s memories. Dad was a huge Vampirella fan; when he moved out in 1977, he left behind a stack of Warren, Skywald and Marvel B&W horror magazines, James Bone novels, and *gag* Gor books. I read more or less all of them (save the Gor novels, which I gave up on about nine books into the series), and recall most of them fondly to this day.
Sadly, I got rid of the magazines during college, when Mom moved out of our old house and I lost my “storage space” for anything that wouldn’t fit in my college-era apartments. Still, Vampi holds a dear place in my heart. Thanks for recalling her here as well.
Lorraine makes one hot Vampirella wouldn’t defang her while dressed as a sexy dentist unlike a cartoon I with a defanged vampire great for Halloween. Poor Bud as the mummy but disco is not dead you can see on top of the pops it will survive none the less happy new year.
