You always imagine the giraffes as these big, soft animals that just live for human interaction like a well trained dog or horse. But, cross those sons of bitches and you’ve got trouble. The giraffes are only the beginning of Jeff’s animal woes at the zoo. In my researching of giraffes, I found out that male giraffes are sometimes called “stinky bulls” as their coat emits a rather foul smell due to the antibacterials agents in the fur. But, they have tongues to die for and can only imagine the French kissing those two are gonna get into after a few more tokes on Jeff’s prime stash.
So, Def Leppard fits into my loophole of 70s because they formed at the end of the 70s and by making their name look like Led Zeppelin (the name was Deaf Leopard, but was quickly changed to look like Zep’s name). And the video for “Animal” was just strange enough for me to include it as today’s comic title. If my fading memory serves, “Hysteria” was the first album to be released with a video to support each song. Plus, the album was longer, nearly an hour long, to help fill up the fledgling CD format. With some crunching, they were able to press 30 minutes of music per side on the vinyl releases. Most BTO albums were only 30 minutes in total, not per side! Trivia Mondays…

Are you promising pot in every pot? 😛
Love the idea of a giraffe smoking a joint…
Where you gonna find a stoned giraffe? That’s right… 1977, man…
😛
BTW, loving Budwolf and Jeffenstein in the banner!
Dude you are crazy! I swear you deserve cookies! lol
Hash cookies of course!
Wow, Def Leopard’s ‘Animal’ gave us all hope. If they can get away with writing a chorus on one note then this song writing gig must be a doddle!
Who needs melody?
I don’t know… BTO is a close second with their single note melodies…
😛
I’ve always thought the same thing about the giraffes when I go to the zoo…
Oh, yeah… cute looking animals but I bet they’re real bastards. I mean, just from the teasing they get about the long necks must push them over the edge…
🙂
Yeah why eat ’em when you can roll ’em up and smoke ’em. I’ll bet those Giraffe’s get all the good stuff from the top. 🙂
The best stuff is ALWAYS on top… bada-bing!
🙂
Love the Halloween banner! Glad to know other webcartoonists enjoy the season as much I do (or “boo”…okay, that sucked).
I’m a big fan of Halloween… I use to dress up for years with my kids but now they’re too old (or embarrassed) to go out with me. I have a couple cool Lightsabers I walk around with. Cool and functional as they make great flashlights too.
One year I wore my NASA shuttle uniform (official one too all decked out in actual flight patches and stuff). I went into Target to buy more candy and the checkout girl asked if I worked for NASA. Um, we’re in Chicago, NASA is in Texas and Florida… so … YES I do work for NASA…
🙂
The strip today is great … but it’s eclipsed by the epicness of the Halloween banner. Love the 5th pumpkin! 😀
Robyn as a total bombshell of a witch? Oh-hell-yeah! Much better than a zombie or a mummy!
You could, also, consider going on an Animals theme and post songs by them (most) every time a zoo strip comes up …
Stoned Giraffe strikes me as one hell of a name for a band.

I try to make creative banners of the gang. 🙂
I wanting to use some songs from Pink Floyd’s “Animals” album, but Grooveshark does not have any original Floyd tunes… which is odd. Oh, well.
Comment moderated. Yeah, two or more links gets a comment held… for obvious spam reasons.
This puts me in mind of Shel Silverstein’s poem on the neck of a giraffe.
