I did this one in B&W to drive home the “…something completely different…” part. I always like to preface that I’m *not* converting to this style, but it is a nice break for me. Though I found it took me about as long even though it’s sketchier, I still had a lot of clean up to do and make sure the lines were distinguishable, etc. But I do love drawing in this style now and then.
And now for something completely different… I’m taking my holiday break now. I originally wanted the Road Trip finished by Christmas and I over shot that target by a couple weeks. I have traditionally always taken two weeks off at Christmas/New Years to do year end wrap up of taxes and stuff. It also is a good time to be off with family. This year, as you know, it was very hectic and a tad stressful during the holidays, so I’m going to blow some steam off now. Opening my trusty calendar, I shall return in force on January 25th. I will run some reruns in the meantime… select comics from the past and they’ll be clearly marked and once I return, I’ll dump them from this point in the archives so as not to confuse folks a year or so from now as they go “What the hell? Is this guy on dope? Oh yeah…” Anyway, as Doctor Venkman said in “Ghostbusters” “See you on the other side, Ray.” And so shall I!
Rock on, man. 🙂

Daww! Cleese! Wheee!
Have a great holiday, and remember – DON’T CROSS THE STREAMS!
😀
“This bitch is toast!” Still cracks me up to this day and I’ve seen that movie dozens of times!
Yep, see you on the other side! 🙂
Relax we’ll be here when you get back. OK I can’t speak for everyone else.
Glad to hear that! It’s not that long… just 4 comic updates really, so it’ll go by quickly. I just want to get all my scripts and sketches together that have been gathering over the past 4 months as I’ve done the Road Trip. Now back to plain old Sex, Drugs & Rock and Roll!
🙂
Have a nice break. Put your feet up. Eat some brownies.
Fudge brownies… makes you sleepy… 🙂
Just what the doctor ordered…
Yep! Dad introduced me to Monty Python’s Flying Circus in 1975, thus scarring me for a life’s worth of loving British comedy and TV. By ’77, I was a dedicated Benny Hill fan, too. Thanks for bringing in another worthwhile aspect of ’70s pop culture.
Have a great break, man! You have far more than earned it! 🙂
You can’t do the 70s without a Monty Python gag. These guys SO influenced me. You can be sitting there watching two characters walk along when a simple title pops up and says “A Cat” with an arrow. A moment later… BOOM! The cat explodes. My kind of humor!
I have three cats, so I’m not a cat hater, just a lover of explosions!
🙂
Enjoy the break. You’ve earned it.
Thanks, Pam! Hey, everyone, go check out Pam’s graphic novel “House of the Muses”… just click on her name to get there, or she’s listed under my Webcomic Friends!
🙂
A massive bong hit in your direction. Enjoy your time off.
Bang-a-gong, get it on, man… or bang a bong… 🙂
Thanks! Knowing me I’ll be playing with the comic anyway, so I doubt I’ll take much time off. Just needed a rest from the updates for a bit.
🙂
I love the “pencil” style of this strip. Great work; looks awesome. Take it easy, man!
Thanks John! I prefer it too. Color is nice now and then, but this should be the norm the more I look at it. I’m gonna get shot saying that, but I really like this style a lot better.
I’ll go out on a limb here and say that if in Print comics, if they did not have to ink the comics, some artists would do it this way. There is something about a pencil sketch that just attracts my eye.
Could be just me.
🙂
ha ha, back to the basics, huh? In more ways than 1!
Yep, back to old routine for Bud and Jeff. TV, beer and pot. Great combination.
🙂
So, there’s a colour version? Why are the brownies grey?
Ah, black and white TVs… that brings up memories.
Waiting impatiently for the damned thing to warm up so I could watch my cartoons. That ranks pretty high on the list.
For f*@#’$ sake! Was there any need to use the “T” word?
“T” word? I’m a bit slow today… what that’s?
“The pleasures of the Dance, a collection of Norwegian carpenters’ songs compiled by Oscar Tritt”…(record scratches and leaps)
john Cleese (apologetic) In fact this record is not “The pleasures of the Dance, a collection of Norwegian carpenters’ songs compiled by Oscar Tritt”. it is, in fact, a new collection of skits and sketches from Monty Python’s Flying Circus…
(goes to accordion-accompanied singing and clapping in Norwegian.)
And so on…
