Having grown up with older sisters, I learned very early in life to duck…
I am taking a bit of a leap here today and I’ll let the comments play out before I say anything else… except to say some of you readers have a strong since of ESP as I had this comic lined up and in Monday’s comic comments satyrblade referenced Uriah Heep and that leads to today’s comic title…
From 1973’s “The Magician’s Birthday” Uriah Heep had a minor hit with “Sweet Lorraine.” I had not heard it in years, so I picked it up on iTunes today and seems my 16 year old ears were more keen on the piercing synthesizer sliding up and down throughout the whole song. Today it was a bitch much. I love lead singer’s David Byron’s voice (not because of his last name either). My favorite song by Uriah Heep is “Stealin” from 1973 as well.
Oh, I brain-farted on Monday when I mentioned the band gets a name today… that’s Monday when they meet up with Rocky to get their first gig. Have a good-one folks. Oh, I’m still looking for subscribers too. We go back to three times a week in March (crap, that’s next week) but I still need to raise enough for the second Convention in North Carolina. So, bug some friends and have them sign up! Thanks!
🙂
PS: I just noticed that Bud has not been shown in his trademark baseball shirt since he chatted with God back on Jan. 19th! Must be sort of record I’d day.

Lorraine looks like a cross between Firestar and Phoenix when she makes her coffee command.
I love that in the commentary on today’s comic you wrote, “Today it was a bitch much.”
And it goes without saying: I enjoyed the comic, as always.
RE: vince – Yes, I used a cover pose of Phoenix as a model for Lorraine in that frame. If I were Adam Hughs I would have had tons of flames engulfing her, but alas I had to use a simple flame image from IstockPhoto.com. How folks can draw such realistic flames is beyond me at the moment!
But my super-hero version of Lorraine has something you NEVER see in Marvel or DC… yes, her rock chick nipples. What, super heroes don’t have nipples? Come on… Oh, and her outfit is based loosely on Tony the Tiger (thus the little orange stripes).
RE: Jorge – Yes, a “bitch much” is an old slip of the tongue I like to use now and then. Makes people look twice, then they get it! Glad you did!
😀
Totally Tony the Tiger.
And yes… the flames, Byron, the flames…
In my most humble of opinions, super heroes have super nipples…
But perhaps we can use something like a… coffeepot, to take closer look?
Screwdrivers in the morning, that is indeed the breakfast of champions.
I *heart* Robyn.
RE: Audible Atrocity – First, I dig your “handle”! As an old audio engineer of sorts, I know that feeling of “what the hell did I just record?”
LOL! On the coffee pot. The little kid in me SOOO wanted to enlarge that area a tad, but the PG-13 in me held back. Perhaps that’s something I can put in the Subscriber area! (hint)
RE: Jeremy – Robyn drinking a Screwdriver in the first panel is HUGE nod to all the rock chicks I’ve known over the years. I’m gonna have to ask if I can share some of those photos with you folks someday…
And yes, a Screwdriver is perfectly logical… it has ALL the essentials for a great start to the day!
😀
WOW BYRON bud’s line in the last panel. i wet my pants! haha good on ya!
RE: Shozo – I’m a big fan of cockney slang and I remember that one in particular because it was so far from the actual item being referenced you really don’t know what they’re talking about!
I have several good friends over in the UK and I love not only the accent but the expressions. “Bob’s your uncle” (as in “there you go”) is still one of the cleaner ones I can repeat.
Glad you liked it! 😀
I LOVE the shot of Lorraine
Thanks ManwicH! What a cool handle! Nice icon too! 😀
*laughs* Thanks, Byron! Well done.
Yeah, I’m with you on the high-pitched synth – I never really liked that element of the song. “Stealin'” and “Woman in Black” are my UH favorites by a large margin. Still, with a character named Lorraine, you can’t miss that reference.
Thanks! 🙂
Would it be too much to ask for a Lorraine’s “e-poster”? 😀
Heheheh!
Great drawing there!
I have to put up with this but i’m the oldest of three children, my litle sister can be right old… I won’t say.
Cool stuff dude 😀
RE: ferabreu – There are new desktops of Lorraine in that pose in the Subscriber area, so you can enjoy those for the moment!
What do you mean e-poster? An image in poster dimensions (like 24 inches tall by 18 wide? Let me know, as that kinda stuff is fairly easy to create.
🙂
You’re welcome satyrblade! You have mystical ESP powers I assume… 🙂
RE: Dan – I have to admit I was pretty young and my two oldest sisters had pretty much split by the time I started realizing what all the commotion was on a monthly basis around the house. But, with older sisters there was fighting going on all the time anyway. I just tried to miss getting scratched or pushed!
🙂
I grew up with one brother and three male cousins who lived close enough that we sometimes weren’t completely sure who lived where. Later on in life they all blamed me for not informing them about PMS. The thing is I’ve always been aggressive, territorial, and irritable so the impression that they got from other women was that they were so much nicer to be around.
The poor suckers never knew what hit them. 🙂
I was either blessed or cursed in the hormonal dept. I’m not quite sure which.
On the plus side I did get through puberty in about two months and I’ve never really had much emotional fluctuation or such.
Howdy Heather_Dee! It’s funny. Some women you’d never know when the “painters & decorators” have arrived, and with some it’s like total hell for about 4 or 5 days. I for one am glad I ended up with a Y chromosome as you ladies have a TON of things to put up with. Ignore all the social crap (make up, high heels?) but the sheer amount of “stuff” nature lays on you is incredible. I’d faint at the first cramp, and I doubt I’d ever get through child-birth without punching someone.
But, I’d say you were lucky as you’re at least even keeled most of the time!
Glad you’re along for the ride! I love hearing from the female readers!
lorraine reminds me of my wife when we were younger although the “painters”werent always in so to speak i also have 3 daughters thats are 18 11 and 8. not only am i a musician but im a painter also and my favorite color is red coincidence or not ill let yall decide
Coincidence… but there certainly is a crimson karma about you I’d say…
I can’t remember where I even found this picture anymore but I love it. I actually came across your comic about a month ago from a random webcomic ad and I’m glad I did. It’s very entertaining.
