Happy 4/20! 🙂 Google it if you’re not “hip” to what it means…
Today starts a 5-day update schedule. Normally I would start this on Sunday with the larger format comic, but given the punchline, it had to go up today. But, this and the next four are tied together as one mini-story arc. To kick off this new schedule, I wrote this story up special so you’d get it all in one week.
To clarify, all the comics will be in color. Mainly because it’s what I want to do. The smaller format on the other 4 days is easier to draw in a timely fashion. This is an experiment and we’ll see how it goes.
Also, I start a new full-time job today. My freelance career was dying a slow death this year and money seems to come in real handy in this world, plus my kids were getting a little peckish, so this is a good thing. I am not sure of the time constraints on the comic, as I draw the comics at night anyway, so there should be no impact. Again, we’ll see what comes of all these new things.
Rock on, man… 😀
Oh, the comic title is from Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite. “Mountain King” is the finale just builds and builds… like this storyline will. Hey, it’s also 4/20… it could mean anything, man…
Happy four-twenty man
Heres to 4:20 everywhere
Niiiice. That last panel is priceless. The band Savatage also has a song called “Hall of the Mountain King.” Happy 4/20!
That’s the perfect way to celebrate 4/20! I had wondered if anyone was gonna mention it. 🙂
Haven’t celebrated 4/20 in ages, oh well….
There’s something different to the colors. The comic feels a bit like the first strips, when Bud had that V8 and Jeff didn’t use to comb his hair…
IT’S GREAT!
Thanks for the “vintage feelling”. It feels more like 1977 now, heheh.
Sorry/Glad to hear about the Frelance Career/Job.
Steve.
“Life is just a bunch of stuff that happens to you, most of it while you aren’t looking”.
that’s the spirit, heh.
I was in Disney on 4/20… but you can believe I thought about you man.
Rick Wakeman ‘stole a few bars’ of Hall Of The Mountain King for his 1974 release of Journey To The Center Of The Earth. Well within the 1977 theme!
Oh, new reader btw and just going through the archives. Being a 60’s child, I do remember most of the music referenced…great comic too!
War referenced “The Hall of the Mountain King” In the song “Spill the Wine”
Had to admit, trhis was my first association…. so THAT’s 4/20 (20th April). Being european, the only link I could think of was Adolf Hitler’s birthday! (Happy 127th, Adolf…) glad there’s a better reason…
Wow, did not that April 20th was Hitler’s birthday. Of course, just about everywhere else but the USA, the date would be 20/4. See? We American’s screw up everything, even getting high. 🙂
OK, first there was this:

The only Focus album I have is “Moving Waves” and I got that only because of the rockin’ single “Hocus Pocus”. The rest of the album was NOTHING like that single. 🙂
