Okay, had to toss in a whole bunch of spy references in this one. From Archer to Bond, I cover a number of them. This page was scripted as Jeff and Bud bitching friendly at each other in the jail cell until Lorraine comes to bail them out, but we had so much fun with the Man from U.N.C.L.E. stuff last week (thus the B.U.D. acronym), I was inspired to re-write this page. I started coloring it using only gray tones (a real pain in the ass) and suddenly had that “DOH!” moment and realized Photoshop can convert it to B&W for me. Love Photoshop… say no more.
So, I’m pulling out the original TV Theme, not the one from the movies. Movies were fine, if you like Tom Cruise and over the top effects. I’m not a Cruise fan, but did at least see the first film.

Lorraine looks painfully hawt. And speaking of pain, you’ve done a magnificent finger-slip there in the blurb: ‘pain staking’. It’s amazing how putting one little snippet of whitespace into the word *painstaking* turns it into imagery central! Dude, we can stake that pain and kill it dead! Quick, sell the idea to some painkiller manufacturer…

I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again: love the black & white noir look. Especially panels 1&2 today; such a Man with the Bold, Big’gun kinda thing. Bud looking sharp and packed. Lolz @Jeff with such a fresh-faced side-kick sort of Kato look.

Yaaaay! MI Theme! Lalo Schifrin is one of the best imo for move & tv themes, & deserves to be in the same light as his better known contemporaries like John Williams,Henry Mancini, & Jerry Goldsmith. Great 420 slide in there, Byron, altho some of the younger readers may not know what 420 is a reference to… While you’re still on the Man From UNCLE kick & seein’ Loraine show up to save the day, do you remember the spin off, Girl From UNCLE? I remember watchin a couple, maybe 3 episodes, & being totally bored by it, & the american tv public must have thought the same thing as it only lasted one season.
With you there, Uncle! Though not so much on the Cruise-era remake because it got dumbed down into 4/4 time for the benefit of the rhythm-impaired club dodos. Shame, that, as the original time signature was a large part of the charm o_0

The miracles of spy tech were everyone believing there would be enough power in that watch without either killing Bud or giving him cancer…..That said, the cancer is worth it for a high frequency unidirectional sonic wave disruptor on my wrist….just need to find those earplugs….
He ain’t James Colburn in Our Man FLINT or Starling Archer (he the coolest secret agent so obnoxious yet so handsome) or Dianne Rigg (Emma Peel) or Modesty Blase side kick James Bond or Dick Tracy. Maybe he’s a Film Noir detective trying to capture NAZI secret agent Baron Henrick Jachim Von Dweebuger and crack the case of the tap dancing Nazi. Or even crack the case of Vladimir Dorkov and the world communist plot to turn us into mambo dancing Marxists. But please let it not be the G spot don’t what it is but I know it involve pleasing horny women all the men will hate you for discovering it count me out nooooo.
