Mount the handle bars on the headboard and let’s go for a ride! So hang on to your ass and let’s fire this mother up.
So, to kick off 2013, a little Sweet for you and what song would be better than “Ballroom Blitz”. Yes, that song from “Wayne’s World”. I hate when classic songs get pegged by some damn movie or commercial. “Hey, that’s that song from that Nike commercial!” (referring to “Revolution” by the Beatles… ARGH!!). Regardless, it’s a fun tune and perfect for today. Go have a little “Ballroom Blitz” later on if you can. I know I am. 😛

First off it’s great to see you personal life is doing we. 🙂
I for one welcome you back into action…plus I was wondering if you would do a joke about Soul Train the tv show in the 70s ?
I have not done much in the way of bringing in actual 70s references like “Soul Train” as a lot of my audience would not get it (damn youngsters) 😛
But, if for some reason Bud and gang end up watching it someday while toking up and vegging in front of the boob-tube, I’ll be sure to include that classic show.
🙂
And it’s good to be back!
Oh, excellent! For a moment there I thought they might do something stupid. Glad to see they dodged that bullet … 😉 😀
*grumblegrumble*would’alikedt’haveseenRobynfromtheotherside*grumblegrumble
But, y’know, hey … I’m just enjoying the show from the sideline. It’s all good. 😛
Any & all updates are always welcome. Don’t stress any deadlines if other stuff be happening. Clearly you’ve got a plate full. I’ve had 07 Jan on my calendar & was hoping to see an update this morning. Got a little concerned the site was down for a while, but I see a lot of excellent work went up on the finished 12 Days project. Looks fantastic. I’ll probably wander back through them this week and maybe add a comment or two for specific panels. Some details well worthy of making note.
Very happy to see some news about positive things going on. House over your family, always a Good Thing. Will keep pulling for you that things keep looking better.
I have not idea why the site was down there for a while. Something with my host and not me. But by the time I saw it and started to call them, the site came back up.
I fussed over Robyn’s position quite a bit and decided to pay her backside some justice once and for all. Even though I’m known for drawing bodacious boobs, awesome asses are not out of my realm either.
🙂
Oh. Nothing wrong with getting a shot of her backside.
Was just daydreaming about the effects of gravity on her top. Perhaps some other day we’ll be treated to her performing a keg stand on the beach or something, like in a bikini top & Daisy Dukes (one of my personal favorite combinations). Maybe with Lorraine &/or her girlfriend in supporting roles. 😉
Anyway, it’s just good to see you back. Was some pretty sad moments this past year when it looked like you might gave to close down. Hope that bullet stays dodged.
And, touching briefly on 70s memes & suchwhat … Gong Show before Soul Train, please. Just in case you’re taking votes.
WOOOO! BYRON IS BACK BABY!
Glad to hear the good news, and still holding hope that great news is on the horizon for you.
And Ballroom Blitz is a GREAT song to kick off a new year!
Seems things are finally on a roll. I’ll try to keep it that way.
And I’m glad to be back! 🙂
welcome back byron glad to see the updates again
Thanks!
Yeah! Welcome back, Byron, it’s so good to see you and the gang again. I’m going to take a cue from Jeff and Robyn and hoist a mug of beer for their return later today. 🙂
It’s also great to hear that things are looking up for you, Cindy, and your oldest. Continued good wishes that things keep going well for you and the family. You’ve had one hell of a year in 2012, here’s hoping 2013 and beyond will be much better for you.
I’m gonna try and keep myself on this current path… it’s a bit straighter and less bumpy. Also, easier to juggle balls…
😛
Yeah, that straight, smooth path is a lot more enjoyable, and it does make it easy to juggle balls, and a lot more fun. And, of course, all good things require practice, so be sure to juggle those balls daily. 😀
BOFFO! Byron is BACK baby! Mondays now have their naughty indulgences back! I’m glad to see and hear things are moving in a positive direction, may that continue on and on and on for you! [grin]
Naughty indulgences… now that’s a t-shirt design for sure… Glad to be back!
😛
WHOO-HOO! Welcome back my friend, wonderful to hear that things are looking up! May 2013 rock!! I finally get to re-live my wayward youth thru 1977 again! (Are you sure that Plan Nine didn’t have a skinny long-haried blonde kid from the desert SW as their 1st drummer?…). Great new-start kick-off tune as well! Yeah, I always hate it when original songs get pegged by another source, too – altho in the case of “…Blitz”, the Swiss HM band Krokus did a pretty good cover of it in the early 80’s. Still, nothing like the good ol’ original 99% of the time!
Actually, Plan 9’s original drummer was going to be the nameless Pizza Delivery Guy, but I think Robyn’s a better choice.
Rarely do covers beat out the originals… certainly are exceptions to that rule, but I’d go with the 99%.
🙂
Very happy to see the strip back, because that means all is well (or getting there) in your world.
Welcome back, good sir!
Getting there… still some obstacles, but nothing like last year. Glad to be back!
Happy 2013, 1977.
Good to see the strip back in action.
I love your use of “theme music” for each strip, by the way.
Just to add to the classic songs being used or commercials, etc.
A number of years ago, as I was planning a trip to Vegas, I was doing my best(worst) Elvis imitation and singing “Viva Las Vegas”. My youngest son (quite young then) looked up at me and innocently asked, “Dad. I think you have the words wrong. Isn’t that supposed to be Viva Viagra’?”
Ouch, son.
Ouch!
Ouch indeed…
Yeah, lots of songs from our era being sucked down the advertising pipe. The songwriters need the cash, so why not? I guess if it introduces the group/song to a new audience, then so be it… I’m still not a big fan of it.
😛
You mean like all the old “Who” tunes now being “The Theme from CSI: Whatever”?
😉
I do love Robyn. She’s so demure, so restrained, so ladylike… 😛 😛 😛
Welcome back, Byron!
I will commit sacrilege, I like the “Wayne’s World” version of “Ballroom Blitz” more than the original.
There, I said it, and I stand by it!
There are MANY covers of old songs that are so much better than the original. That’s not always true, but in this case I like both versions of “Ballroom Blitz” equally. Def Leppard did an updated version of “Action” by Sweet and it’s an equal, if not better, version of that song too. The song I always push people to listen to is the cover version the rock group Fanny did of “Hey Bulldog.” Find it on YouTube and hopefully it will knock your socks off as it did mine. I think Fanny’s version is far superior to the Beatles.
