I’m starting to get into the newer format. I like being able to tell something in a row without having to worry too much about recapping the previous comic. If you don’t mind the smaller format 4 times a week, then I’ll keep this up.
For those of you fairly new to the 1977 game, Bud is my alter ego in comic land. His family is composed of the same numbers as mine (three older sisters) but after that, Bud’s family are their own characters. A quick story: My mother, whenever I got hurt or needed medical attention, was always there when I was a wee-lad. It helped she was an ER nurse too. Some of her gory stories made me toss my dinner some nights. But in 1985 my mother passed away to breast cancer, and I miss her sometimes. So the nurse in the background is a small nod to my mom. Say “hi” to Mrs. Wilkins, or Myra Jean. She’d tell us to shut up and get back to work… so I will.

UPDATE 5/8/2009: Seems this comic was 1977’s 200th comic (not counting guest comics or specials) Well, whaddya know! I’m not big on things like this (which is why it went by & I didnt’ notice the first time), but some folks like to know this sort of trivia. Here’s to a couple hundred more…

Only Bud could managed to shoot himself in the butt by accident. I like the new updating format. So, the new schedule is Sunday -Thursday, then?

Yes, normally the comics will update Sunday thru Thursday, with the Sunday comic being the larger 6 or 4 panel style I have used most of this year thus far. A larger Sunday comic reminds me of reading the “funnies” after church as a young boy, so that part I like a lot.
I moved this week around a bit so I could land my 4/20 joke on the actual date.

I am laughing that the character who is your proxy has a mom who is NOT your mother’s proxy so you invented a new nurse to BE your mother’s proxy so she could tend to YOUR proxy even though HIS mom is right there in the room too… whew! (Heh heh heh.)

My mum was a nurse too, and she got got breast cancer too, but she made it through. I feel for your loss (who wouldn’t miss their mum?) and that’s a nice way to pay tribute to her.
